james k. polk was born on this farm on november 2 nd 1795. james' parents samuel and jane polk owned this 150 acre farm and several slaves. the original polk farm buildings no longer exist and the buildings on the site were moved to this location from other area farms. the current farm house, kitchen, and barn were built in the late 18 th century and are a good representation of farm structures at the time of polk's birth.
