 | Raleigh Restaurants | Tips 21 - 30 of 77 | | 101 Lounge + Cafe is an international style coffee house and bar with an upstairs lounge. It has a clean and hip, urban design, that is relaxed and not the typical grunge coffee house. It’s open 7am to midnight, so it was an easy choice as I travel alone, it is pretty inexpensive and has FREE Internet! I took a liking to this place because it is so close to my hotel on Fayetteville Street, but has more of a big city, neighborhood feel. They serve a straightforward breakfast, lunch and late night menu. Mostly sandwiches and salads, nothing fried, but it does the job and the staff treats you like a regular on day 1. They have a very good selection of coffee, espresso, beers, wines and martinis. Real chill spot to get some work done or hang out while sitting in the café, outside on the corner or upstairs and people watch! It is also right across the street from City Market and Art Space. It’s cool too that they change their art work every month to support a local artist or non-profit. They’ll sometimes have live music and is a good place to start the night if you plan to be up late. They are dog friendly as well, so a lot of the locals will bring their pups out over a drink to chat with their neighbors after work. It is one of my favorites and is a great neighborhood spot conveniently stuck in the middle of downtown Raleigh.

Not just excellent food, but a nice old building, that gives it a great atmosphere. There is a bar and upstairs and downstairs dining. It is housed in an old brick building, on the corner of Glenwood and Jones St. right behind 42nd Street Oyster Bar. There are all sorts of architectural nuances in the building like archways a wide staircase with a small niche halfway up where there is a small table for two, ornate cast iron railings on the upper level, and the ceiling is even painted like a cloudy sky. There cuisine is traditional Italian and Mediteranean with a twist. A great wine list, their wood burning oven and cappucino bar are all great features. You may want to make reservations here.
I have had their Chicken Marsala several times and never been dissappointed, but the other day I had Their wood grilled beef tenderloin which was excellent. They cover it with a chianti glaze and parmesan cheese and serve it with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. Bella! Angus Barn is THE place to go in the triangle if you like steaks. This is no the-sour-cream-even-cost-extra chain steakhouse. The building is a barn with a country theme – blue checkered tablecloths, hay bales stacked around the edges, farm machinery on display – but the service and quality are Five Star. The prices are comparable to other high end steak houses, but you get so much more for your money. While waiting for your table, there’s a bar with cheese, crackers, and olives. During Christmas, there’s a 30 plus-foot Christmas tree in the lobby decorated with gingerbread men which you're welcome to pick one to eat. While waiting for your food, you’re brought out a plate of pickles and olives, crackers, and two spreadable and delicious homemade cheeses. And when you leave, there’s a bin of apples next to the door for you to take one home with you, instead of just some paltry mint like most places. They also have a full bar upstairs and a wine cellar. The meat selection is extensive, but they also have lobster, crab, and other seafoods, vegetarian options, and to die for dessert. They can seat over 600, but with such great service and quality, it’s regularly packed, so make a reservation in advance.
Chateaubriand. Even getting it the medium well I like, I could cut it with a butter knife. The dipping sauce with it was excellent. Most places I struggle to eat an 8 oz Filet Mignon, but here I ate all 14 oz, and was still craving more. For dessert I recommend the Sawdust or Chocolate Chess Pie. They even have the C.C. Pie recipe on the website, if you want to try it at home. This place has a down to earth hippie sort of feel. They have the best gourmet pizza's, gourmet salads, and sandwiches to die for. The staff is really helpful and friendly. They have a wine, beer, and liquor selection if that is what suits you. They can be pretty busy between 11:30AM-1PM so make sure you check them out at a later time if you don't feel like waiting 10min for a table. It's definitely worth every penny.
The BBQ chicken pizza is a good option but everything on the menu is great. The burritos here are huge and fairly cheap. In my opinion, this place is much better than Moe's. The hot sauce here is what has converted my friends to Baja burritos. Big Ed’s is great on Saturday morning. They have an old band out front while you wait in line singing Dixie songs. Inside the atmosphere is a collage of southern relics. It is a great place to get some southern cooking!

This place has countless TVs along with projector screens to show all the local (NHL Hurricanes, ACC sports, Carolina Panthers) games, as well as some out of the area. Just make sure to get there early if you plan on watching the game there. They have excellent food and a pretty good beer list. With 6 locations in the area, it shouldn't be too far from you.
