  • Great restaurant specializing in greek food that we can't stop going back to. The setting is very charming and a perfect spot for a nice dinner out with your mate or a nice place for a group of family/friends. It has a rustic surrounding and plays traditional music. The food is very unique and authentic and can be a nice alternative to the chain restaurants surrounding this area.

Moussaka is by far my favorite and what I always get so can't recommend another dish. However, the appetizers Saganaki and Spanakopita are delicious as well as the lemon chicken soup.

  • A popular lunch place for people who work in downtown.

    Very crowded at lunch time.

Many types of salad, soups, quiches, etc.

  • On the edge of downtown, near the railroad tracks, this place is a find. It has the feel of an upscale place, but the menu of a backyard family gathering (with a few fancier options). The Carolina Style Ribs here are great and relatively cheap as far as ribs go. Try not to fill up on the biscuits and hushpuppies if you can help it, but they are mighty good.

Carolina Style ribs with a side of mashed potatoes and slaw. Topped off with sweet tea, of course.

    Waraji: Top Quality Sushi

  • This place has the best sushi in town and has been rated #1 in Japanese cuisine for this area. It is definitely the freshest sushi I have ever had and it has kept me coming back for more. The restaurant is not large and not overly fancy, but it has very authentic Japanese chefs and food and that is what is important to me.

I love the crunchy, sweet dragon, shamoo, and spicy tuna rolls. I recently got the spicy tuna hand roll and it was awesome but very spicy! The salads with ginger dressing and Miso soup are also very delicious.

518 West Italian Cafe: Pastas, pizzas, and wine

This Italian restaurant offers good food and a great atmosphere. Located next to the railroad tracks in downtown Raleigh, 518 is housed in a brick building with the brick arches and walls visible from the interior. Warm bread is served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The salads are excellent, the pasta is fresh, and the pizzas delicious.

Monday nights are the best time to go, as bottles of wine are half priced.

I've had most of the pizzas, but the good ol' margarita might be my favorite. My favorite pasta is a tie between the hazelnut pesto and the baked pasta. The polenta is also good.

Whilst out shopping with a colleague at the Crabtree Valley Mall - I came across this restaurant as i was looking for Barnes & Nobel. All I can say is that the staff are excellent and food is second to none.

Sadly, I had to cut my visit short as I found that the supplier we were in discussion with that day had brought their staff to eat there too.

However it was a great place to visit and I will go back and have a less interrupted visit.

The menu is excellent - large and SMALL steaks available from this restaurant.
