Cycling is very popular here. I saw men and women with very nice gear preferring to pedal along the rural roads rather than the dusty Canal Fulton towpath, but in any case, the area is very bicycle friendly. The hills aren't too steep and the traffic light. I pedaled around a bit, but these folks were really serious senior citizen lady cyclists :-)
Canal Fulton has a place that rents canoes and bicycles, and it also has a small minature golf course. The Canal Fulton Canoe Livery is located near the Tuscarawas River Bridge on Cherry Street. The canoe and life jackets are very reasonable in price, and the at the end of the trip, the livery brings the canoe and paddlers back. The trip along the sleepy Tuscarawas River is about two miles long, or about 2 hours.
The placid Tasawaras River is an easy canoe ride, but watch out for the cattle grazing in the river down near Lock 4. I saw a mother and her two daughters safely paddle past the cows though.
