Hooters Waitress by kahunayummy Hooters of America, Inc. has over 375 Hooters in Cincinnati and other locations in 46 states, Argentina, Aruba, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, Guatemala, Mexico, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Taipei and Venezuela. The privately held corporation owns 118 units. The first Hooters opened October 4, 1983, in Clearwater, Florida. During its history, the Hooters concept has undergone very little change. The current logo, uniform, menu and ambiance are all very similar to what existed in the original store. This lack of change is understandable given the tremendous success the Hooters concept has enjoyed. Hooters has continued to rank high amongst the industry's growth leaders. Hooters has proven successful in small-town America, major metropolitan areas and internationally. The casual beach-theme establishments feature '50s & '60s jukebox music, sports on television, and a menu that includes seafood, sandwiches, salads and spicy chicken wings. Hooters, system-wide, generates and averages 72% of its sales from food, 5% from merchandise, and 23% from beer and wine. Notably, Hooters does not serve liquor. The element of female sex appeal is prevalent in the restaurants, and the company believes the Hooters Girl is as socially acceptable as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, or Radio City Rockette. The "nearly world famous" Hooters Girls are the cornerstone of the Hooters concept, and as part of their job, these all-American cheerleaders make promotional and charitable appearances in their respective communities. The Hooters Girl uniform consists of orange shorts and a white tank top, short-sleeve or long-sleeve T-shirt. Pantyhose and bras are required.

Kahn's Hot Dog Vendor Owner - Manouso by BeatChick The street food you find indicative of Cincinnati are the hot dog vendors only these aren't your typical hot dogs! Because this is Cincinnati, a city with German ties, the hot dogs are bratwurst (brats) and mettwurst (metts). The vendors will serve them up to you with grilled green peppers & onions at your request & slather your dog with mustard. There seem to be 3 types of vendors in Cincy: Pepsi blue/white umbrella *Jerry - 23 yrs - in front of the Courthouse ($1.85 brat + .25¢ green peppers & onions) Kahn's red/white umbrella *Manouso - owner - in front of the Welfare bldg, Main & Central independent red/white umbrella *Diann - 11 yrs. doing this & was initially doing this to help out a friend - located next to the Central post office I'm not sure of the affiliations but here're some other locations: *Main Street between 5th & 6th *Westin Hotel on 4th across from Fountain Square

Authentic Irish pub food experience featuring live Irish music on the weekends! May be a bit too loud for younguns. Lovely fireplaces throughout the bar & the restaurant. For St. Patrick's Day in Cincinnati there IS no other place to go to celebrate! UPDATE: I popped in yesterday to dine on my tried-&-true favorite, their Burdock's Fish & Chips - WONDERFUL! - along with a half pint of Guinness. But what else would a Connolly drink, I ask you? Perhaps it has always been so but I discovered that their faboo tartar sauce has dillweed in it - excellent. Photo: August 2005

When Spring rolls around it's time to take the kids to The Cone, an ice cream cone shaped shop situated in West Chester; it is a tradition in this area! Spring means baseball, soccer & ice cream after the game at The Cone. Oh, and if you're lucky you'll only have to take two of your kids' friends!! The ice cream & sundae selections are HUGE - your first time you'll spend 20 minutes perusing the huge menu. The ordering process is simple: line up at one window, place your order & pay. Go to the next line to pick it up!

Wonderful place - one of my favorites - consistently great food, excellent service - it's a place I go to when I want to celebrate a new job or a promotion! Trio is HUGELY popular, too, as testified by the immense crowds flooding the place at any time. Reservations are an excellent suggestion, otherwise count on at least a 40 minute wait. Sometimes you can get a table in the bar or a stool at the bar counter but it appears other people know that trick, too! There've been times I've precariously balanced my salad or trio of crème brûlée on a little area obviously intended for martini glasses.

Mmmmn, Deli! by kdoc13 The food? It's decent. (Yeah, I bet you saw that one coming.) Look, it's not New York Deli, but it is very close. They have the pickles that are out on the table and the food is awesome! I often find myself making the long drive from Dayton just for this place! With every meal you are going to get Cole Slaw and a Potato Cake. Yummy, but a bit greasy. The real treat are the sandwiches. I always get Pastrami and Corned Beef. The thing comes loaded! It is huge. And it is served at the perfect temperature. It is not atomic hot, and not cold, but that right middle warm temperature which brings out the best in the Corned Beef. You may not be impressed unless you grew up on New York Deli's. But for the midwest, this is the best you are going to find, now that Lou and Hy's in Akron is closed.
Love the Pastrami and Corned Beef on Rye. You can't really go wrong with the Reuben either! The deserts are also good, try the cheesecake. Ollie's Trolley by BeatChick Cheap soul food is sold at Ollie's Trolley, a popular pit stop (yes, pun intended), located in a converted train caboose in the heart of the Over-the-Rhine section of Cincinnati just north of downtown. There are no places to sit inside, so you'll either have to take it to go or eat outside on the picnic bench. Soul food offerings include barbequed ribs & beans & rice; don't forget your cornbread! Read AOL's review HERE.

We'd had a bad experience at our 1st choice for celebration last night (read about it HERE); we decided it was going to make for a bad birthday celebration so we left. We ended up going to Newport-on-the-Levee to Café Istanbul. We were dressed casually as the other place had casual dress policy; couldn't really think of anywhere special to go that would let us in with casual dress. I'd been to Café Istanbul previously & thought the food was great & I knew Terry loves a good hummus. The experience was excellent! We told them we were celebrating a birhday & had just had a bad experience. They seated us in a nice, quiet area. Our server was extremely nice who just so happened to be from Turkey. He brought us a wonderful bottle of champagne (Iron Horse - superb, not too sweet). I asked him how do you say thank you in Turkish. He rattled off a seven or eight syllable response (of course I can't remember it now because I've gotten rather tipsy from that time 'til now!). I said, "wow I'm not sure I can say that". So I tried it & he said it was perfect, that no one else had ever been able to do that! I was appropriately flattered. As I said, he was very nice. We heard him tell another couple he was from Istanbul, which caused Terry to remark "don't ask him where he's from specifically because I'm going to have to start singing 'Istanbul, not Constantinople'"! :) Naturally, later on he TELLS us he's from Istanbul so we asked him about the song. He said many people have told him that same thing but he'd never heard the They Might Be Giants ditty. As things were wrapping up the lights went off & everyone shuffled outside - we continued our good times across the street at the Southgate House!
The food was SUPERB! Terry was duly impressed with the hummus and we both thought the pita bread was the best we'd ever had, but then again it was freshly baked which makes a HUGE difference. Mr. Connolly also had the vegetable stew with lamb (I think it's what you'd refer to as a lamb tagine?)with stewed tomatoes, okra, squash, other yummy veggies. I had the dolmas (just called stuffed grape leaves on the menu - one of my favorite mediterranean dishes) - they were excellent - and the lamb chops served with roasted tomatoes & green beans - perfect! Did I mention the Turkish Coffee is divine? We both love good, strong coffee & this hit the spot! We were stuffed & couldn't do dessert but then the staff brought me a birthday cake! It was so nice - they sang happy birthday to me - I was so tickled! It was a semolina flour cake soaked in honey, like so many desserts you find from the middle east that are soaked in honey. Faboo! It was a perfect birthday experience & they certainly made up for the horrible experience we'd had earlier. Photos: September 2005 Leave a Comment

The Montgomery Inn by kdoc13 This is the best place for ribs in the entire Midwest!!! No kidding. It is an award winning rib-joint! Most of the meat items are going to go from 15 to 30 bucks, but oh how the ribs are worth it. This is one of the many reasons Cincinnati is reffered to as Porkopolis! The Ribs are the reason to go, although they are also known for their Prime Rib. The one thing that is not good about the place is the wait if you just walk in. Often prom dinners and office parties are held here and you may have to sit around a while until a table frees up. Luckily, there are a few different locations. Even one at Kings Island!
The Ribs! A fulls slab dripping with sauce and side of SSaratoga Chips! Yummy!!!!
