If you are flying your private plane, or charter plane, to the Cincinnati area, this airport is the most economical place to land. Located about 8 miles North of downtown.

Parking is only $5 per night, I recommend using Co-Op aviation as your FBO. (fixed base operator). Blue Ash aviation is a little more expensive.

This is Cincinnati's first airport, also a CVG reliever airport, located only about 4 miles East of downtown.

This is where executive jets and small general aviation planes usually land. It's also where the Goodyear blimp docks, when it's in town for a ball game.

Often in the mornings, since it's so close to the Ohio River, "Lunken is Sunken". In other words, it gets covered in Fog during the AM hours.

Cincinnati - Northern Kentucky International Airport is actually located across the river in Kentucky, about 15 minutes from downtown.

It's actually an expensive airport to fly into. Delta Airlines has the monopoly here, it's one of their hubs.

If you're looking for cheap airfare here, consider flying into Dayton instead (DAY) about 1 1/2 hours North.

  • Cincinnati has a great shuttle bus that runs between downtown and recreational areas in Northern Kentucky. (This is just across the river, about a mile from downtown,) I think the shuttle is actually funded by Northern Kentucky - to attact business across the river.

    There are 2 routes -
    1. Covington, KY - where the Convention Center and several hotels are located - as well as Mainstrasse, the historic, German area.
    2. Newport on the Levee - A new mall / entertainment facility. Includes restaurants (including a decent Irish pub), shops, and a multiplex movie theater.

Your hotel will have a shuttle map.

The shuttle runs until 10 PM on weeknights and until midnight and weekends. The schedule says they are at each stop every 15 minutes, but I think it is longer toward the end of the day.

    Cost is $1.

Located about 10 miles down-river from downtown Cincinnati is Anderson Ferry. You can get there from Route 8 in KY and Route 50 in OH. Not far from CVG.

For $3, you can drive your car on, and catch a ride across the Ohio River between Kentucky and Ohio...

Heck, with the cost of Gasoline, it might just be a bargain.

Several miles of subterranean subway line was constructed in the 30's & 40's, but was never opened.

  • The $1 shuttle that will take you from Cincinnati to Kentucky! It stops in a couple places (acutally will pick you up directly outside the Westin) and stops at a couple places in Kentucky (over the river). It's very clean and easy travel!

The first thing you need to know about the Cincinnati Airport is that it isn't in Cincinnati at all, or even in Ohio. It is located about 13 miles southwest of downtown Cincinnati in Covington, Kentucky - hence the airport code CVG.

For ten years running, travelers worldwide have rated CVG as one of the best airports for service and convenience. The airport is a major hub for Delta Airlines, and is also Comair, a Delta commuter airline. Service is also available from other major airlines such as U.S. Air, American Airlines, Air France, Continental Airlines and Northwest Airlines.

Direct flights are offered from Cincinnati to 120 cities both in the United States and abroad. As a Delta hub, it is also a place where many thousands of people make connections between flights. There are 80 shops and restaurants in the airport for the convenience of the traveling public.

Most of the time things run smoothly and efficiently here. I feel fortunate that I can call CVG my home airport.

    Directions from Cincinnati:
Go south on I-71 or I-75 across the Ohio River. Take Exit 185 and follow the I-275 circle freeway west to Exit 4 (State Route 212). Follow the signs to airport terminals and parking facilities.
