    Cimperman's Restaurant: Slovenian Local Bar/Restaurant

by blaird Updated Apr 30, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

My great grandfather on my grandfather's side opened a local restaurant called "Cimperman's Restaurant" in either the very late 1800's or very early 1900's. It will be tough to find today, as it went out of business during the great depression. I guess the bank he worked with went under and he did not want to ask for the money of all the people he carried tabs for since they were either unemployed or struggling to survive the tough economic times.

My grandfather worked part time at this restaurant when he met my grandmother. My grandfather also worked a fulltime day job, whicle he worked part time at this about work ethic.

Prior to marrying my grandmother, as was the tradition in the neighborhood, all of the money my grandfather made went to his family.
