Set in an old victorian buliding in the city's historic Market Square, I highly recommend this restaurant to any visitor to Cleveland! Featuring the city's oldest mahogany bar where beer has been served for over 125 years. Most of the original woodwork is in tact! A cozy, non-smoking restaurant/brew pub where a diverse menu can please anyone!
Favorite Dish: Barley crust pizza with pesto sauce and wild mushrooms, spicy artichoke dip with pita wedges, portobello sandwich. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Everything we ate here was fantastic. Take the free tour of the brewery.
Favorite Dish: Try the pretzel chicken and the Bread pudding was amazing. In terms of beer, they were all fantastic. Of their regulars I liked the Dortmunder Gold Lager but also enjoyed the Holy Moses. My friends swore byt he Eliot Ness Amber. Just try them all.
It's the beer that makes GLB so great. They brew it themselves, and much of it is award winning. Jana's personal favorite is Burning River Pale Ale, named for that Cleveland phenomenon in the 70's of the burning river. Dortmunder Gold is another classic. You can go on a brewery tour or just enjoy the products! The food is also good, especially the Stilton Cheese Soup served with crusty bread and the Eliot Ness Porter ice cream. The sausauge sampler is classic Cleveland. Another great feature is that this is the first pub in the area to go smoke free and what a difference it makes to the experience (outside seating in summer to allow for smokers).
Favorite Dish: Definitely the beer. This is not only the best microbrew ever, but also the best brew period. Strong flavors, genuine variety in the types, and poured on a true pint.
The Stilton Cheese soup is a wonder. Tangy and creamy served with great fresh bread and butter. Share a bowl with friends as a dip.
Were lucky enough to enjoy the local hospitality of Coair13 and Ethan!
Favorite Dish: Menu items were not out of the ordinary but they put some great unique twists on some common items
Good food and beer at a reasonable price, needn't say too much more I think! Enjoyed the downstairs cellar bar, busy and fun - hope to go back soon.
