It was started as a vacation resort, but now Cedar Point is one of the greatest amusement parks in the world. You will experience some of the most thrilling moments of your life on their record-breaking rides. You can easily make this a family vacation trip by including Soak City (the attached water park), and by taking side trips to the Erie Islands, into Cleveland, etc.

Cedar Point opened in 1870 and has the distinction of being the second oldest amusement park in the US. Actually, Cedar Point has many distinctions: It has 16 roller coasters.....more than any other park in the world. One of them is Top Thrill Dragster (tallest in the world), which takes off and sends you into a 90 degree incline at 120 mph...up 420 feet....and back down a 90 degree incline. I timed it...the whole ride takes about 20 seconds. Aside from the record breaking roller coasters, there are 68 other rides. Once again, more than any other park in the world.
Cedar Point sits on the Lake Erie Peninsula (on a clear day, you can see Canada from the top of the Magnum) in Sandusky, about 50 miles west of Cleveland.

What more can I say about Cedar Point that people don't already know. It is the roller coaster capital of the world. Awsome time but like all Amusement parks its very expensive. Check out their website for discount tickets - that is where we found one for $15 off.

Cedar Point is actually in Sandusky, OH. I used to go every year as a kid up until I was about 19. They have added a ton of new roller coasters in the last 14 years!!! I believe admission is about $45.00 or somewhere around there. This is probably the most fun amusement park of them all, in my opinion.

The rollercoasters are well worth the wait. If you can go sometime when the crowds are not at their peak, then this would be good as we spent on average 1.5 hours in line. That said, the rollercoasters were incredible.

While this really should be its own page, go approximately 2 hrs west of Cleveland to Sandusky Ohio to Cedar Point Amusement Park. I have been to a number of amusement parks throughout the eastern US and nothing, I repeat, nothing compares to Cedar Point. It is really known for its rollercoaster rides, which are phenominal, but there is so much more to do there. There is a huge waterpark, a ton of minor whirly-twirly rides, good shows, plenty of games, a great kids area, decent food. Plus it is all kept up wonderfully.
Amoung the things Cedar Point boasts, the most overall rides in one park at 68, most rollercoasters in one park at 14, tallest rollercoaster at 310 ft, longest rollercoaster drop at 300 ft. The park is easily large enough to take multiple days to see. It has a waterpark, marina, and its own hotel. It is a bit pricey, so come expecting to pay $$$.

Cedar Point until recently was the ultimate amusement park in the world with roller coasters second to none. They still are one of the very best with new coaster being built at an amazing speed.
