This breakfast has won many food competitions over the past few years. Most people pass it by at its simple decor. Don't follow suit! This place has an amazing weekend brunch. The prices are cheap, the portions are huge, and the selection is large. We haven't found any breakfast that is better. Everytime we have guests from out of town we take them there and they are always jealous we have such a great place near us.
Favorite Dish: Apple and Cinnamon Pancakes have real chunks of apple throughout, the hashbrowns are big chunks of potatoes made in house. I always get annoyed at those perfectly square ones that you know came in a package and they just reheated. These are most definitely homemade and excellent!
Tommy's is a vegan's dream. They have all sorts of sandwiches with....well....fake meat in them! The layout is simple, wooden tables and booths, and they have a large party seating area upstairs. The menu has falafels, salads, soups, homos/hummus, and pizzas. And don't worry for those meat lovers, they still have a variety of burgers, sandwiches, and meatbull subs. This place is for everyone!
Full menu is on the web site.
Favorite Dish: You MUST try the milkshakes! Most people drive 20-30 minutes just to order a milkshake at the front counter. BIG TIP: You will get a larger milkshake if you order at your table than ordering to go. They bring your glass plus the leftovers in the mixing cup. Yum!
Tommy's is always loud and crowded and sometimes you have to wait. It's worth it! Tommy's opens onto a bookstore, too, so you can browse at Mac's Backs while you're waiting for a table. While you can get a burger/meat dish here, the amazingness of Tommy's is found in its pita pocket sandwiches, anything with falafel and hummus and baba ganoush and melted cheese, and in its 4 billion kinds of root beer. Local flavor abounds. This is a local classic. Breakfasts are good, too!
Favorite Dish: Try a mint chocolate chip milkshake. These are beloved by everyone, even by those people whose judgment is otherwise completely totally shot. I like the Fred sandwich, which involves tuna, hummus, cheese, tomato, etc., etc., in a pita pocket. The Donovan is good, too. It has more falafel and baba ganoush and no tuna, but you still get the cheese and tomato. Tommy's offers tons of sandwich combinations and some fake meat dishes that are pretty decent, as well.
