Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve
A tourist spot since the early 1800’s and registered as a National Natural Landmark in 1968, this preserve has 269 acres dedicated to protect one of the finest examples of post-glacial erosion in Ohio. It is a result of erosion from a large meltwater river originating from the waning Wisconsinan continental glacier. The river rapidly eroded the soft limestone and shale beneath the escarpment, leaving more massive Silurian dolomite unsupported. Continued undermining and collapse of the dolomite resulted in the creation of Clifton Gorge.
Besides the unique geology, the preserve provides a home for local wildlife and less common plants and includes scenic waterfalls and rapids on the headwaters of the Little Miami River. Although the Little Miami River uses the gorge as part of its course, it does little to deepen it.
There are trails in and around the gorge, but they are steep and slippery at times, especially in wet conditions. Proper footwear and clothing are recommended.

Clifton Mill
1.) Country store
The front room of the restaurant is actually a country store. Browse through the charming gift shop that is decorated throughout with antiques. Buy fresh quality milled flours and products, cookbooks, or quaint decorations and knickknacks.
2.) Millrace Restaurant
No it’s not fine dining, but it is good food in a comfortable and relaxing country setting. Find peace as your listen to the gentle sounds of the old mill wheel and the soft rhythm of the water gently cascading over the falls while viewing the covered bridge and the beautiful Clifton Gorge.
The staff is ready to serve you a truly home cooked breakfast or lunch that might include some of the pancake and cornbread mix are made right in the mill. Make sure you save room for the fresh whole grain breads and homemade pies and cookies that are baked daily.
3.) Covered Bridge
Rustic and beautiful in its own right, this covered bridge provides some shade from the hot summer sun and a wonderful view of the Clifton Mill and waterfall.
4.) Christmas Lights
Outdoor trains and a large Christmas light display have helped enhance the charm and popularity of the Clifton Mill. Worth a few hours of your time to walk around the grounds and let the spirit of the holidays warm your heart, then head into the restaurant for a hot drink to meal to knock off the wintry chill.

We only come here during X-Mas to see the light display. It is always worth seeing. Stop by the housing complex before you get to Clifton Mills. Drive thru the plat area and see what they have done too! All the neighbors must get together and have a lighting party. They always have all there houses lit up beautifully in a row.
