  • Dick Clark's American Bandstand Restaurant, Butch's Italian Restaurant, and TAT Restaurant
Prices are reasonable at all three restaurants. All are family-oriented, too.

Lasagna or nearly any pasta dish is good at Butch's and TAT. TAT uses homemade noodles in its spaghetti. Also, the Maryland crabcakes special at TAT is delicious. Best I've found around town.

    Fuddruckers: World's Greatest Hamburgers

  • THis is the place to experience mouth-watering burgers! They are made to order and huge, so you won't go home hungry.

Try anyone of the following burgers: BBQ Rock (cheddar, bacon, and bbq), Triple Cheese (monterey jack, cheddar, and swiss), Blue Moon (blue cheese sauce and crispy onions), Southwest (bacon, monterey jack, guacamole), "The Works" (american cheese, bacon and mushrooms). To go along with the burgers, you have a choice of Fudd Fries, Cole Slaw or BBQ Beans.

  • Good food, good service, and good prices, who could ask for anything more (eventhough the place looks a bit like a dive on the outside).

The Gahanna Grill offers legendary hamburgers with the Bleu Cheese Burger and The Beany Burger being my favorites.

  • Similar decor and format as the Japanese Steak House (downtown) but the food is just as good and the prices are less expensive.

Anything on the menu is good. I've had the beef and chicken combo as well as the beef, chicken and shrimp combo...outstanding!!!

  • The original breakthrough Asian eatery in Columbus, featuring upscale Chinese fare. It recently was renovated into a beautiful dinner house with a menu emphasizing freshness (specializes in Szechwan-Hunan cuisine and serves lunch and dinner daily).

Anything on the menu is great

  • Featuring gourmet Chinese fare in a sedate dinner house. Serving lunch and dinner daily.

A specialty is the Americanized "triple delight" which is a spicy mix of jumbo shrimp, steak and chicken breast.

  • Sandwiches are hand made and they don't skimp on the fixings. Get the large and something cold to drink and I guarantee that you will have to unbuckle the belt when you are finished.

The Philly Cheese Steak (with fried onions, peppers & mushrooms), Club Sub (cheese, ham, turkey, lettuce, tomato, mayo & bacon) and Club Supreme (swiss, turkey, roast beef, lettuce, tomato, mayo & bacon) are delicious choices.

    Max & Erma's: Get yourself a burger...it's all good!!!
  • Tip Rating:

  • Max and Erma's is a family bar-style chain launched back in the '70s. The place is famous for it's burgers, especially the Garbage Burger' (the toppings outweigh the burger beneath them). If you order a "platter" you'll get massive piles of french fries and onion rings.

I've tried the Bacon Cheddar Burger
(aged cheddar cheese and crispy bacon strips, lettuce, tomato and a red onion slice on a grilled bun along with pickle slices and a side of seasoned fries or homemade potato salad) and the Mushroom & Swiss Burger (with sauteed mushrooms, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and a red onion slice on a grilled bun along with pickle slices and a side of seasoned fries or homemade potato salad).

  • Don't ask for the lite menu and wear pants with elastic waistbands. They serve authentic German recipes in a 113-year old landmark (a restored livery stable).

All I can say is this: eat bratwursts, eat potato pancakes, eat cream puffs, drink beer.

The Japanese Steak House: Dinner and a show
  • Tip Rating:

  • You sit at long, low tables with many other people, and in the center of the table is a large rectangular grill. Servers take drink and food orders and a chef comes out with raw filet, chicken, shrimp and/lobster tails to prepare the meals. They flip shrimp tails into peoples' pockets and show great expertise with sharp knives and sliced up veggies.

They have a creamy sauce that is served on the finished meal (I forget the name of it, but your waiter will ask you if you want it) which is high in calories, but tastes fantastic. This restaurant can be very expensive, but try it you'll like it.
