This is the one restaurant I take people from out of town to when I want to show them what is great about Columbus dining: delicious food, a great atmosphere, and very low prices. It is has a funky retro diner atmosphere and is always hopping with people. While there is a standard diner fare like burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches, the standouts are the Cuban and Tex-Mex inspired cuisine.
Favorite Dish: Any of the Cuban-inspired dishes are great, but I like the adobo roast pork served, of course, with plantains and black beans. Their chili with homemade cornbread crumbled into it is awesome. Always check the specials board.

Authentic German food, with gracious and friendly service, is served daily at this restaurant in a historic part of Columbus. The personnel and the customers were friendly and helpful in helping us select our dishes. Since it was our first visit, the manager gave us a complementary cream puff (the house specialty) and an apple strudel to go (both were unbelievably tasty. Also, I understand, they have live music each night with oompah bands on Friday and Saturday nights.
Favorite Dish: I enjoyed the sausages and kraut. My wife enjoyed the beets, German potato salad and the schnitzel.

Cup O Joes are everywhere in Columbus. The one I go to is at the Lennox Mall where Olentangy River Rd deadends. Your typical laidback coffeehouse atmosphere. Great place to take your laptop and look like a hipster. The staff is always friendly and full of sleeve tatoos, which is pretty cool to me:)

This place is like it is trying to recreate an Italian place. However after having been to Italy its more of an Amercianized Italian Place. The place is huge. Literally it goes back forever. All kinds of cool Italian decor and they even have a table in the kitchen. The food is all served family style for sharing and the portions are the largest I have ever seen in my life. The food is really really good. THe place is packed on weekends. SO if your looking for romantic this isnt it. THere are tons of birthdays and bachelorette parties happening in here on any given night of the week. I would suggest going late afternoon or late evening on a week night. THe bar service is really slow here so if you drink quick order two drinks at once. The peach bellini was really delicious. SO make a reservation if you dont want to wait for hours and hours....
Favorite Dish: Husband loves the lasagna. I love the garlic mashed potatoes and veggies as I dont like cheese. The garlic bread is served with real chunks of garlic on it I wasnt prepared for that...

Quaint and modern, this restaurant is perfect for that lunch date. With the concept (which you get to pick choice # then Pizza Pasta Salad) it reminds me a lot about Chipotle. And anyone who knows me knows I am all about burritos the size of your head... Well the pasta here is great much better than Fazoli's because it is made-to-order but about just as quick. Don't forget about the gelatto!!!
Favorite Dish: The Chicken Alfredo... with Italian gelatto!!!

Although it is a chain, Cheeseburger in Paradise is a great place to grab a burger and chill. In CbinP in Polaris the staff was friendly, the food came out quick and it was great. They have pretty good happy hour deals (Margaritas, Mojitos, beer...). They also have wheatbun option, side veggies or rice.... veggieburger and turkeyburger options.
Favorite Dish: Burgers! their fries aren't too bad too...

Ok, I won't go as far as saying it is THE best Chinese in the city, because there are some very nice sit-down family places, but it is THE best Chinese takeout hands down.
Favorite Dish: I have not sampled anything that I didn't like

The is a new place and yet already a staple for downtown eating. 73 East Gay Street 221-8300, just a block away from the State House. Ohio themed comfort foods. Veggie/vegan friendly. Local brews available. Everything I've eaten there is wonderful and consistently so. Have some homemade pie! A don't miss for casual $-$$ food in downtown Columbus, Ohio!
Favorite Dish: Tonya's Goat Cheese Salad and homemade pie!

This is my parents' favorite place for pizza, and I would never have been introduced to it if they hadn't taken me there. They serve pasta, salads, sandwiches and steaks too, but since I only get to eat there about once a year, I go for the pizza every time.
The atmosphere is very laidback. I've been to two of their locations (Sawmill and Hilliard), and both of them have friendly service. It's also a kid-friendly place. The Sawmill location has a Sunday buffet.
Favorite Dish: I think it's obvious by now...the pizza. I like mine with mushrooms.

This is an elegant, romantic place for a dinner, or great for a casual lunch with friends (especially on the terrace when the weather is nice). They serve breakfast here too. And the best thing about it is that it isn't too expensive. You can have French cuisine or pasta dishes. Lunch is a nice variety of sandwiches and salads. The desserts are a thing of beauty - luscious pastries and tarts! The entrees are tasty, but the true emphasis here is on the baked goods...fresh croissants and baguettes, which you can, of course, take to go.
The atmosphere is French country. Evenings mean dimness and candlelight, and French music (Edith Piaf, probably) playing softly in the background.
Favorite Dish: I haven't had anything here that I haven't found exceptionally good. And they now seem to have even more on their menu since the last time I was there. I remember the Beef Bourguignon being particularly delicious. They also make a great Caesar salad.

Columbus is the capital of Ohio. It does not have many attractions that would cause a visitor to specifically come here but it does have quite a bit to do.
