1. Listen to the music. We have a great music scene, particularly for fans of alternative rock, blues, and jazz. Also a couple Irish pubs feature Celtic music regularly, and El Diablo has a Latin flavor. In addition to the clubs, there is a series of free concerts over the summer at Courthouse Square and Riverscape Park, these are usually national acts (oldies but goodies). 2. Sunwatch Village Archaeological excavations at near the Great Miami River uncovered evidence of an 800-year-old village built by the Fort Ancient Indians. Sunwatch is a re-created village at this site. 3. Air Force Museum. Dayton was home to the Wright Brothers. The US Air Force Museum in Dayton is the oldest and largest military aviation museum in the world. And it is Free. There is a charge however for the IMAX theater. 4. Dayton Art Institute For a small city, we have a great art museum. There are also monthly jazz concerts and Friday parties. Dayton's Oktoberfest is held here. 5. Visit the Oregon District. Restaurants, bars, dance clubs. 6. Take in a play, concert, or ballet at the Victoria Theater or Memorial Hall. We are blessed to be the home of an internationally acclaimed modern dance company,The Dayton Contempory Dance Company. Leave a Comment

by 1sassyfemme My evening in Dayton was spent at ekoostik hookah's acoustic show at the Canal Street Tavern. If you're into jambands, then this is the place to drop into. Canal St. provides the perfect atmosphere for an unplugged evening. It also gives the band a chance to interact more with the audience. I had such a great time at this show! I got a chance to speak with one of the drummers and come to find out, we have a lot in common (drum corps rules!). But back to the city itself; it's really clean and easy to get around. If I didn't get lost, then no one should.=0) Leave a Comment

Spend a day touring the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum and learn more than yoou can imagine about the history of aviation. Very interesting stuff, but it can be tough on your feet if you're wearing the wrog shoes.

(actually the first flight was in North Carolina) by yooperprof "Flyover" is a modern installation of artist David Black. Unveiled in 1996, it commemorates the first flight of Dayton's bicycle building and aviation pioneers, Orville and Wilbur Wright. (It also represents the actual arc of that flight.) "Flyover" is in the median of south Main Street in downtown Dayton. Leave a Comment
