Perkins Observatory is a special place in Delaware if you're into viewing the heavens. It has a 32-inch reflector telescope, the second largest east of the Mississippi. They have lectures at various times during the week and viewings through the scope on the weekends, weather permitting. There are special events throughout the year. For instance the local astronomy association meets there with their own telescopes and you can go look through them at the stars and planets. You'll need tickets in advance if you're going for the weekend night events. Check out their website www.perkins-observatory.org.

This is small town USA. The people are wonderful and the life style is slow. They have farmer's market in the summer, real rummage sales where you can find great bargains and really neat old houses. They also have antique shows at the fair grounds in the summer and you can get a good deal on some real or near antiques.

Address: Brown jug is a local place to eat.
Walker Station is easily the best steakhouse in Delaware County. There are several factors that make a visit worth your while. The Black Angus beef is cut in house by the owner, Charlie Walker, ensuring the highest quality and flavor. The menu is well balanced and reasonably priced for the quality. The wine selection is modest, but fairly priced. The restaurant has two seating areas...a more formal smoke-free dining room with a fireplace and a larger casual room which includes the bar, several TVs, and a wall of windows. Due to its surburban location, there typically isn't much of a wait on most evenings, although a reservation is a good idea on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Favorite Dish: The CALAMARI ROLL is outstanding...as an appetizer or entree. Any of the steaks are an excellent choice. The PORTERHOUSE is the cream of the crop, but for lighter appetites the STRIP or FILET is just as flavorful. The SALMON is usually the best seafood choice on the menu.

Avesta is my favorite restaurant in Delaware. The owner / chef is from Iraq and the food is excellent! Great kabobs, hummus is the best I've had, other items mostly Middle Eastern / Mediterranean, but some American dishes. It's a small place, quietly lit, not noisy. In addition to wine and beer, they have a martini list with probably 30 varieties. Not expensive either.
Favorite Dish: Shrimp kabobs. Just a dynamite dish and very well presented.

Glenross Golf Club is the best golf course in the immediate vicinity of Delaware. With inviting fairways and undulating greens, it provides a fair test of golf. From the tips, this course is only around 6500 yards long, but you will need a strong short game to score low at this course. The staff is very friendly, and the clubhouse has very good food and atmosphere. If you are looking for a good round of golf while in Delaware, Glenross would be my first choice.

Favorite thing: Go and see the University and come in the fall so you can go to the LIttle Brown Jug horse races. It is quite an event for this little town.
Fondest memory: The county fairs are very midwest and fun. All of the locals look forward to the county fair. It is nice to know that some things do not change.
