Mural of Sherman at 124 West Main Street

Favorite thing: Lancaster,Ohio, is historic, beautiful, and cultural. It has what most visitors enjoy, at least visitors such as Jill and I!

The First Photograph is actually a mural painted on the visitor center/glass museum building on West Main Street. It a young William Tacumseh Sherman in a "Napoleon" pose. I am sure that Southerners hate this mural. If you look closely, you see that in the stone of the building along the mural is "GEN. WM. T. SHERMAN".

The Second Photograph is the Sherman House. William Tecumseh Sherman was born in this house on Main Street in 1820, and lived here until 1829. Today, Sherman House is a State Memorial that is administered by The Ohio Historical Society.

Fondest memory: The Third Photograph is a closeup of the John Bright Covered Bridge that was built in 1881. The bridge is now located on the Ohio Universtiy Lancaster campus over Fetters Run. It was moved here in 1988

The Fourth Photograph pictures the beautiful Fountain in Zane Park located at Broad and Main Streets. The park itself was named to honor Col. Ebenezer Zane who founded Lancaster. I think that it is wonderful to have a quiet, natural spot in the middle of the city.

These photographs certainly clarily the beauty, history, and culture of Lancaster, Ohio.
