Enjoy the island on two wheels
Put-in-Bay is not too big, and it is relativly flat, so a bicycle is an excellent mode of transportation. There are bicycle rentals near the bay. If you are there with your sweetie, rent a tandem. "You'll look sweet, upon the seat of a bicycle built for two."
Bicycle security: Note the dog!!
If you are with friends, or want to explore more of the island, electric carts are for hire. These battery powered vehicles range from your standard golf cart, sedan for more people, or even a sporty looking model, for you hipsters.
Golf carting aaround this island is a great way of getting around, you can hire one for $50(for a 2 seater) for the entire day (you have to return it by 7:45 pm). It is convenient and easy and the traffic/parking rules that apply are the same that apply to your car! So have fun! You can even get a 4 seater or an 8 seater!

Okay so we took the Miller Ferry and decided to use the bus to get downtown. it is $2.50 a person and drops you off at the bus depot at the biginning of the street. If you are visiting put-in-bay for the day it may be the way to go, but walking crowded street with tons of luggage and a cooler is no fun. Next time I will take a cab and pay the extra .50 a person
I was not going to rent a golf cart because the island is so small you can walk the whole thing, but I am glad I did. They are fun and definitely worthe the money. The websites say reservations are required but your sure to find one if you do not have a reservation. The first day we rented an electric one. NEVER AGAIN. It was so slow walkers passed us. The next day we went for gas and it was much better. It was cool and definitely worth the money. Some people even had carseats in the golf carts - funny

Put-in-bay Golf Cart Rentals
We went to Put-in-Bay and rented a golf cart from Delaware Golf Carts http://www.putinbayrentals.com and we were able to reserve our golf cart on line before we even got there. Good thing we did as the carts were pretty much gone when we arrived but ours was there waiting for us.
We also found a hotel called the Put-in-Bay Resort http://www.putinbayresort.com that rented them as well.

Miller Ferry to Downtown Put-In-Bay
My family and I planned a Sunday trip to the island taking the Miller Ferry. We took the bus todowntown Put-In-Bay which was fine the gentleman driving was kind and informative, but our return trip with "Uncle Buck" was terrible, I thought he provoked two passengers with statements like. I wonder what it would be like for a bus to hit one of these golf cart. The passengers sitting near my grandchildrens began using the "F" word agreeing with the drive to see who far they would fly if hit by the bus. I'd had enough and told them to stop it there were small children on this bus. Too sad, next time we will take a cab if Uncle Bucks is driving

Enjoy the Island on two feet
If you are planning on staying near the bay, or, if you are planning on drinking, you only need your two feet. Many people just enjoy the "town" part of the island, it has many diversions.
Ferries from the mainland
There are two ferries from the mainland, one carries cars, which are unnecessary on the island, and is slow. /or/ You can take the Jet Express and in just twenty minutes you will be in Put-in-Bay.
For the adventurer
Put-in-Bay does have an air strip. You can hire a bi-wing to take you to and from the mainland. This is the most stylish way to get here.
