Seeing how we were struggling in the head the ranger at the Peace Memorial gave us a very valuable tip! He said there was a 15 min movie that was played for free about the Memorial in the vistor's center that was air conditioned. So very gleefully we headed to the same. It is a nice center highlighting the history of the island and the movie tells...

  • Walking outside Perry's Memorial

Another stretch that we loved walking thru was the road on which the Perry's Peace Memorial was situated, it gave us such brilliant views of the memorial, the lake waters & birds there as well as the ships anchored in sight with the brilliant azure skies! Do see the photos to get a better picture ;)

  • Flat beer and very disappointing

We were excited to know there was a brewery on the island. We love to try new craft brews whenever we are on the road.First beer we tried was the summer ale. We asked them for the most popular beer was that they brew there. Beer was very flat and nasty!Second, we tried the Watermelon Wheat which was marginally better, but still...

  • We walked out

This restaurant was recommended to us so we decided to try it. They told us it would be a 30 minute wait. You could wait upstairs at a fancy bar which had music and comfortable seating. We lookd at the menu and it was by far the most expensive restaurant I have ever seen. Well after waiting 90 minutes we decided to leave. I will however give the...

  • The Boardwalk

There were many places to eat at the Boardwalk. I ate the clams. They were the best I ever had. They were huge. I guess they also have the best lobster bisque. I do not like lobster though. It is 5.99 a bowl or 9.99 in a bread bowl. The clams were 9.99 and the fries 4.00 The drink are very very small and no refills for 1.75. There is also a...

This place had a long line for breakfast so I am assuming it was good. I do not like breakfast so I didn't go. For lunch we shared 2 appetizers and a pizza. The portions were generous. We went back for dinner and had pasta. It was very good, I liked the lasagna better than Olice Gardens! My favorite thing was the BLT pizza because I have never had...

The fanciest public restaraunt is The Erie Isle Tavern. The Skyway is great, so is Mossback's, The Boardwalk and The Crescent as well as Dailey's. Lots of Sandwiches all over the place- Mr. Ed's, the Fishbowl, The Boat House, Chicken Patio, even a Dairy Queen! I'm still forgetting Frosty's, the deli, on and on... Put-in-Bay Transportation

  • Miller Ferry to Downtown Put-In-Bay

My family and I planned a Sunday trip to the island taking the Miller Ferry. We took the bus todowntown Put-In-Bay which was fine the gentleman driving was kind and informative, but our return trip with "Uncle Buck" was terrible, I thought he provoked two passengers with statements like. I wonder what it would be like for a bus to hit one of these...

  • Golf Carting

Golf carting aaround this island is a great way of getting around, you can hire one for $50(for a 2 seater) for the entire day (you have to return it by 7:45 pm). It is convenient and easy and the traffic/parking rules that apply are the same that apply to your car! So have fun! You can even get a 4 seater or an 8 seater!

This is a party place and there is a lot of drinking going on. Try to act responsibly. We were riding on the back of our golf cart, behind us was a couple on a tandem bicycle, and, whoa nelly, if she didn't just lift her top and flash us.Al didn't believe me until he saw the picture, sitting beside me and he missed it.

Put-in-Bay Tourist Traps

  • Bring lots of money

Not a trap really but the places charge so much for food and drink and there is a $5.00 cover on top of it at most places. Even the pool for our hotel had a $5.00 cover! Dont bar hop on a Friday or Sat night. Check the bars out during the day and pick one at night so you dont have to spend a ton in cover charges Go during the week. No covers then

The prices on the island are very dear. Especially for food and drink. This woman paid the price and was turned into a chicken head!!! Many people like to party on the island, and so you should plan on spending some money on beer or other drinks. Pack your food and bring it from the mainland. KFC travels well, and so do most drinks. Put-in-Bay is a day trip, so you will only need what you can carry. See through pants!! You should bring summer wear, something that is fun.
