I put the buffet in capital letters because it is one of the best selection's of food I have ever eaten:) We used to have this restaurant chain all over the Midwest, but now it seems to have died out except in Ohio! So, if you come across a Shoney's, eat there!!!! It's fantastic and they have the Shoney Bear as a mascot, which is the most adorable bear ever:) The Buffet!!!!!!
*Mt. Adam's Fish House-- Cash and major credit cards. On-street parking. Pay lot nearby. *Mt. Adams Fish House, nestled in an older, restored structure in the artsy part of the city is a true wonder. Everything here is delicious and perfectly prepared. Excellent sushi bar also. *Upscale, expensive and worth every penny! The city's only all-seafood restaurant. You will be able to find a wine to compliment any dish on their vast list.
*Sitwell's Coffeehouse-- Sun-Thu 10am to 1am; Fri and Sat 10am to 2am. Cash and major credit cards. On-street parking. *Sitwell's is cluttered where anything goes but it all blends together nicely. Saturday mornings find cartoon-marathon (show up in your PJs!) and often they have poetry or readings (no real schedule). *Sitwell's Coffeehouse is a student haven that also is inviting enough for executives. Their specialty is drinks, of course, but they also serve sandwiches and salads. Inexpensive.
*Harry's Diner-- hours change with season. Cash and major credit cards. Plenty of lot parking. *The large tin box on the hill is Harrys. Do-wop your way through the large menu and enjoy the rotating entertainment. Saturday nights finds a classic car show out front! *Harry's Diner is a blast from the past. The 1950s live on! Serving all of your favorite diner foods, with a blue plate special daily. Under 20 bucks for drinks, dinner and dessert for 2!
*Mediterranean Cafe-- open 11-6 daily. Cash only. Parking on-street.*The atmosphere of the Med. House is of a market-place in N. Africa. Beads, textures and metal works are proudly displayed. *Mediterranean House is a Middle Eastern buffet restaurant. Everything there is delicious. For $6 for lunch, who can beat that?
*Arthurs-- Mon-Sat 11am to 2:30am; Sun 9:30am to 2:30am. Happy Hour Info Mon - Fri 4pm to 7pm, 50 cents off all drinks. Cash and major credit cards. Parking lot across street. *The interior of Arthurs is rich and wonderful. One 1/2 is a large, dark wooden bar surrounded by caricatures. The other 1/2 is a cozy, stencil-walled restaurant. The Kahiki Supper Club was my favorite restaurant but the property was sold to Walgreen's. The owners are planning to open another Kahiki in a couple of years along the Scioto River in Columbus,Ohio. Kahiki was 50 years old and on the National Register of Historic Places. It was beautiful with gigantic torches on the roof and a huge tiki god inside in front of which was a long table decorated with colorful flowers. There were grass huts, kings' chairs, aquariums, and 'the mystery drink.' If you are ever in Columbus a couple of years from now, look for the Kahiki. You won't be disappointed.
