People in Toledo go out to eat ALOT. There are more restaurants per capita than almost any other city in the United States. Some of the best choices are the ethnic restaurants. Toledo has excellent placess for Thai (Rose thai/Bankok), Lebanese (Beirut), Hungarian (Packo's, Busia's), and Chinese (Jing Schwan) food.
Toledoans also enjoy festivals of all kinds. There are fantastic ethnic festivals - highlights being the Greek and Polish festivals. Also, there is a different Catholic Church festival going on almost every weekend of the summer. These festivals have food, raffles, bands, beer tents, and rides for the kids.
Another local custom is the rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan college football. This is a "Border War" town and the allegiance of OSU or M is split about 50-50. Workplaces and schools usually have OhioState/Michigan Day where everyone dresses up in their team's colors. If you visit Toledo in the fall, knowing something about these two college football teams will definitely help you to participate in most conversations.
Another local custom is Toledo bashing. I find people who bash Toledo are the same people who sit at home every weekend and don't make any effort to get out and enjoy their city. Instead of complaining, why not get out there and make your community a better place, if you think it's so bad? Personally, I like Toledo and find the community support for the museum, metroparks, zoo, and baseball team to be commendable for a city this size.

Toledo in a nutshell.
Lowlife scumbags who only drink beer, beat their wifes every Saturday night, fart in each-others face AND LAUGH about it, "Pull My Finger" hahahaha!
Don't waste your time going to Toledo. Have some fun.
Go to Lawrence Kansas and watch the prairie grass grow.
