The county seat at Sulphur is a few miles east of Davis on OK-7. The county courthouse is laid back one block south of the main road (Highway 7), but ask a local and they'll get you there. The building is one of four listings on the National Register of Historic Places but without any visual merit for its consideration.
Though the official entrance of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area is farther east in Sulphur, there are several points of access to the area through Davis and its environs. With over 3 million annual visitors, the recreational area has a considerable draw for its size. Once called Platt National Park, the area is full of eastern hardwoods, trails and walkways, and a popular place for fishing at the Lake of the Arbuckles.
