Myrtle, the giant Kachina doll, welcomes visitors to the Route 66 museum. It is a fabulous museum and is part of the Old Town museum complex. Quite a lot to see there. The ticket I got for the Route 66 museum allowed me to see all of the museums in the beautiful park like complex.
I thought it was all quite unique. I'll make a travelogue about it to give you a better idea of all that there is.

We had lunch at the Flamingo. I had a Club Sandwich and Becky had a French Dip. The food was good and the service good. Prices were average for that kind of place.

I got gasoline in Elk City at one of the places closest to I-40. About an hour later my car was knocking and missing badly. I think they sold me watered gas. I pulled in and filled up with high octane and put some additive in the fuel tank.

Historic Route 66 passes through Elk City OK, a small cute town west of State of Oklahoma. Don’t forget to visit the Route 66 Museum, a small and nice teahouse just after the downtown on the Route 66 and city park.
Don’t be surprised if a little boy in a cowboy hat and boots politely holds the door for you while starring at the ground. It can’t be cuter than that.
Real America with its true people resides in small towns of America. Amazingly, each town has its own cultural identity while all share same American hopes and dreams.

The Parker Drilling Rig #114 dominates the sky line in Elk City. One of the world's tallest oil rigs. It is at 107 E. 3rd. Not hard to find if you just look up.

There is a beautiful carousel inside this building at Ackley Park. The park is next to the old town museum complex. In the park there is also a train to ride and miniature golf.

We stretched our legs and looked at antiques in the Old Route 66 Antique Mall. Did not find any thing there I could not live without. Had fun browsing.
