T.E.A. Cafe: Super stir-fry
Located in the shopping center at 12th & Alamada, this restaurant offering a variety of East Asian (Thai, Korean, Japanese, Chinese) is not very noticeable from outside. But it has a cute, hip, busy interior. There is a coffee bar where you can order drinks -- they have a very extensive list of teas and coffees, including bubble tea -- as well as tables and booths for dining. The menu includes soups, rice boxes, noodle dishes, and stir-fries.
Favorite Dish: The stir-fry special is great if you like to create your own dish. First you pick a sauce, then a meat (or tofu), then any veggies you like. Then your dish is made to order. Healthy (low-fat, low-sodium) options are available.
I loved my tofu, broccoli, mushroom and water chestnut stir-fry with garlic sauce -- great flavor and very light.
Pepe Delgado's: best Mexican food
The best Mexican restaurant in Norman. Probably in all of Oklahoma!
Fast, cheap, filling, and delicious. The food always tastes very fresh and healthy -- no greasy refried beans here! They expanded recently to add a bar, and sometimes bands play on the weekends.
Favorite Dish: The #21 plato vegetariano -- a huge plate of fajita veggies and roasted potatoes, all covered in cheese. Comes with guacamole, sour cream, tortillas, beans and rice. You will definitely have leftovers! The veggie nachos and cheese enchiladas are also great.
Thai Kum Koon: best Thai buffet
In the evenings you can order off the menu, but I think the weekday lunch buffet is the way to go, because then you get a little bit of everything. It is usually very crowded, but they keep the buffet well-stocked. Plenty of vegetarian options. The pad thai and spring rolls are especially good.
Thai Raja: spicy Thai
Cheap, filling, tasty lunch buffet, plus an extensive dinner menu. You can request hotness on a scale of 1-10. Be warned -- their curries are spicy!
Favorite Dish: The brown curry is my favorite. I'm not sure what it's called, but it's on the buffet and it's a vegetarian curry with tofu and a brown sauce. Sweet and spicy! Also, try a Thai iced tea -- very sweet and creamy.
PANERA BREAD: OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT
WE LOVE to eat here.
Favorite Dish: Turkey Artichoke Pannini sandwich, any of their soups, and their Hazelnut coffee is the best!
