    Rogers World Airport

Oklahoma City has a modern terminal and is the primary commercial airport in the state, with over 200 flights daily. Thirteen airlines offer nonstop service to nearly every major city in the US and the city has international flights to Mexico. The airport is pursuing additional coast-to-coast service as well as direct service to Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

Will Rogers World Airport(OKC) is currently finishing a major expansion that when complete will totally revamp the rather industrial age "feel" of the original terminal and make an exceptional gateway to the city. The airport will rival the top in the world with an open, friendly, modern venue that relaxes the traveler and welcomes the visitor.

Will Rogers World Airport is located in SW Oklahoma City, take I-40 to I-44 from downtown. Exit onto Airport Road.

If you are planning to fly into central Oklahoma, then Will Rogers Airport is your likely destination. This airport is located about 10 miles southwest of downtown OKC, and is a fairly convenient airport. Unlike most airports in the country, you can be in and out of the security lines here in 10 minutes or so, as they are highly efficient. There are also quite a few places you can fly non-stop from OKC... these places include:
    Atlanta - Delta
    Baltimore -- Southwest
    Chicago O'Hare - American, United
    Cincinnati - Delta
    Dallas Love Field - Southwest
    Dallas/Ft. Worth - American
    Denver - Frontier, Southwest, United
    Detroit - Northwest
    Houston Hobby - Southwest
    Houston Intercontinental - Continental
    Kansas City - Southwest
    Las Vegas - Southwest
    Los Angeles - United
    Memphis - Northwest
    Minneapolis - Northwest
    New York Newark - Continental
    Phoenix - Southwest
    Salt Lake City - Delta
    St. Louis - American, Southwest
    Washington D.C. - United

  • To visit OKC you must have a car! Use Interstate Highways 40, 44 or 35. If you want to fly into Will Rogers Airport, rent a car when you get there because public transportation is very lacking.

Here is a photo of the famous orange and white barrel found all over the state, not just in Oklahoma City. Allow yourself time for detours if you visit.

    Rent a car while your're here. .

Oklahoma City's largest airport is Will Rogers World Airport.

Public vans are on site to meet all scheduled flights and transport incoming passengers. To arrange for pickup from home, business or hotel, reservations must be made prior to departure. .
Rates vary depending on distance travelled.
Information on rates and reservations can be obtained by calling each company directly.

  • Easily accessible by car with three major interstates intersecting the city. Good connections by air from Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Denver, Salt Lake City and New York City, Cincinatti, Memphis. All have non stop flights with good connections elsewhere.
Car is the best, although several areas are served by a renovated trolley system.

The USA is a car oriented country. Mass transit is almost frowned upon and in times of cheap gas and US car dominance, it not only sounded good, it was the American way of life, part of the American Dream. So, a car is what you need. The buses and trains won't take you all the places you'll want to see. You don't need a four wheel drive or a fancy SUV. I've done this drive three other times in a small Honda Civic that finally was sold with over 250,000 miles on it, and 47 states under its belt. This trip was in a Toyota Camry which was luxurious in comparison. It garnered the two drivable (well, Hawaii is not on any road west I know of!) states my old car never made it to in grand fashion.

Driving cross country is one of those dreams and unfortunately most don't ever get to do it or if they do, it's when they are too old to enjoy all the country has to offer. I've been lucky now to do it four times and this last trip was the best. Having a great partner in crime makes all the difference and my wife was just that, and more.
