Broken Bow is in southeast Oklahoma and is very beautiful. There are lots of cabins and hotels but, frankly, I'm a camper. The state park is really decent about letting you "just squeeze in" where-ever which means that you don't have to settle for one of those awful little ready made campsites...
The river running off the dam is so beautiful at sunrise that it is hard to describe. The water is much colder than the air, so mists rise off the water the catch the play of the water surface the ambient light reflecting of the granite cliffs and the gentle fade of the sun from the reds, pinks, peaches, and yellows of sunrise. I took a 3 day trip to shoot photos there once, but ran out of film in less than 24 hours... It's the kind of a place where once you get there you can take a deep breath and let your inner pace go, slow down and appreciate the day in a way that has largely been lost to modern society.
I recommend not bringing a watch.
