Best Rated Warnings and Dangers in Tulsa

  • Very few rough areas.

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Tulsa has very few rough areas to worry about. It is generally safe to travel anywhere in the city during the day, but at night, there are a few areas you might at least be on the alert.

    Downtown Tulsa
    North Tulsa (north of downtown)

Other than that, there are really no "bad" parts of town. Sure, there's some crime, but no more than any other city. I lived in Wichita, Kansas for 4 years where I only witnessed 2 crimes, and it is considered much more dangerous than Tulsa.

One Saturday night We decided to go clubbing downtown the city, the place was called ''Omega''.I was scocked by the fact that 1930's racism still alive in modern city!.the blacks were ganging together and so were the whites!
I have never expected to se a such scene especially in the states.one more thing NEVER NEVER NEVER try to approach a black girl there unless you are carrying a gun!

  • Crime is a Citywide thing, not just the Northside!

by Hairefx Written Jul 15, 2011

There are a lot of comments on here degrading North Tulsa, but I have lived here for most of my life and have never had an issue out North. If you are not a racist and mind your business (like eveywhere else in the city) no one bothers you. Most of the people that live out North are hard working individuals striving for the American Dream like eveyone else. I was never a victim of crime until I moved south. There are a lot of Auto thefts, purse snatchings, rape, theft and home invasions out South, more than I have ever heard of out North. There is a strong police prescence out North that is lacking out South, East or West, and contrary to belief there are a lot of white as well other races of people who live out North, the people who wrote reviews spewing that hatred are foolish. You have a better chance living next to a Meth house or a n Unregistered Sex Offender out South, East or West than you will out North. How you adapt to others has nothing to do with race, it has to do with upbringing.

  • I lived In Tulsa For 30 Years

by fuadramses Written Sep 24, 2010

Tulsa is generally safe for a mid sized city. However , you should not go into North Tulsa especially if you are white. Stay south of Pine street and east of the Arkansas river. North Tulsa is a black ghetto and West Tulsa is a white ghetto. Tulsa is more segregated than most cities - due to the race riot of 1921. Racial tension is high. The neighborhoods between 11th and Lewis and 11th and Denver are infested with crack heads and prostitutes. The 51st and Peoria area is also infested with gangsters and drug addicts.Downtown is generally safe if you stay away from the bus stations and areas with no street lights. The downtown area is like a ghost town on weekdays but are a little more lively on weekends. Police are corrupt and slow to respond. Meth is a huge problem in Tulsa but there is very little crime south of 41st street. Traffic is terrible due to the constant road construction and most of the local drivers cant drive worth a damn.
