Ashland Liquore Store off Oak Street

Unlike California, Oregon state alcohol regulation requires that grocery stores not sell hard spirits. Grocery Stores can sell beer and wine, but not high proof spirits. Thus, a special liquor store must be sought out for the purchase of Tequila, Rum, Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, etc.

Warning Sign in Lithia Park

Poison Oak is endemic on the west coast and can provide a nasty, sometimes hospitalizing, rash on the skin. Stay away from it, and from dogs that have roamed into it. Most people will find the rash discomforting for a few days or weeks, and the ichy pain can be reduced with vinegar. But, the allergic reaction varies, and some people become deathly ill from contact. However, if one stays on the trails of Lithia park, poison oak is not a problem.

Nudity is Legal Here

Ashland Ordinance 10.44.012 requires only that people cover their genitalia when in a city park or in the downtown commercial district, making female nipple coverage unnecessary — everywhere. So, Jenn Moss, a former resident of Ojai moved to Ashland when she discovered this legal wrinkle. Jenn stripped off her clothes and did a handstand in celebration in front of the police station, and she has been frequently seen riding her bicycle through town wearing only a hemp G string and pasties over her private parts. She had planned to lead a group of naked inline skaters through the July 4th parade; however the Chamber of Commerce that oversees the parade in terms of rules requires that all entries be appropriate for a family audience. Jenn Moss acquiesed to the Chamber, but has claimed to have an attorney look into the matter. I don't have any pictures of Jenn Moss because VT member rules would forbid posting them, but check out the LA Times article and photo of her from Ojai, the other liberal leaning city from which she came.

Don't drink the 'Lithia Water'...

Don't drink the 'Lithia Water' without smelling it first. It won't hurt you, but it has a very high mineral content, particularly sulfur, and most people find its flavor disgusting, to put it politely.
