There are about 10 Beanery coffee houses located throughout the state of Oregon but in my view the location near the riverfront on 2d street is the best! You can get a real feel for this university town by just hanging out here to enjoy a latte or cappucino or one of their delicious blends of locally roasted coffee or tea! The prices are very reasonable, and they offer a variety of breakfast and lunch foods.
The staff are primarily college students, and what they may lack in polish, they make up for with enthusiasm. As for "regular customers" ...there is no such thing! All sorts of people frequent the "Bean" ...college students, "townies" high tech workers, activists, tourists. There is a real sense of community here. When you walk through the doors, everyone is friendly and they treat you like a local rather than "just another stranger."
On weekends and some weekdays, they will have entertainment, and most of the performers are unique and interesting. It makes for a nice low pressure date, and it's pretty romantic to take a walk by the nearby nearly refurbished Riverfront park just to watch the sunset.
Favorite Dish: I really enjoy the tuna melt quite a bit. It is made with your choice of bread, and comes with kettle chips! Delicious!
Andale is stuffed into a deep storefront originally intended for some other purpose, as the long display windows are better suited for a clothing store or other such retail, rather than restaurant seating. The photos and artwork on the wall feature a number of odds and ends of life in Mexico, as well as what appear to be early Mexican movie scenes.
Favorite Dish: Despite the name of the restaurant, the burritos are of average quality and taste. However, the nachos offers a pile of food for the price, and is probably your best bet in terms of decent taste and lots of food for the price.
Don't get me wrong: the food isn't terrible. However, it isn't remarkable either.
Small Vietnamese sandwich (Banh mi) shop. Menu is only sandwiches, all on freshly-bake baguettes, and a few salads and salad rolls (Goi Cuon). Each one is tasty, fresh, and satisfying. I can't wait to go back and have more.
The desserts are beautiful as well as tasty. Many other foods are available such as lasagna, sandwiches, soup, fine wines, coffee, microbrews. On weekends, there even live entertainment. The owners have been there over 20 years.
Favorite Dish: I love the brownies. They are chewy and moist. There are many kinds, but I like the caramel one.
