Oregon Vs. Cal, Berkeley California

Over the course of 4 years at the U of O I became hopelessly attached to Oregon Football. The Oregon Ducks are one of the best teams in the PAC10 conference. OK, so they're not all that impressive this year, but they have 10 consecutive winning seasons under Coach Mike Belotti and are working on making this number 11.

Autzen Stadium is the loudest stadium in the PAC10, making it as much of a threat to visiting teams as the players are. With 67,000 screaming loyal fans, games at Autzen are way fun if you're a Duck Fan. I would say that you should definitely go to a game in Eugene if you're there during football season, but all the games are usually sold out before the season even starts.

The photo is actually of me and some friends at a Ducks game in Berkeley, CA...there were more Duck fans than Cal fans at that game.

Hayward field

Hayward field was the original University of Oregon all purpose sports field. After the completion of Autzen Stadium for football Hayward Field was used exclusively for Track and Field events. Eugene is one of the few towns in America where Track and Field events are a major draw. You can also feel the spirit of numerous distance running legends coursing through the wooden bleachers where sap once ran. Check out a U of O track meet if in town during the spring or the largest event of them all - the Prefontaine Classic.

Equipment: A rain coat if in the forecast.

Fishing in Oregon

Ready to catch something

This is my Nephew. He just turned two but he already knows how to say "Fish on!" This is a good sign that he will grow up a proper Oregon boy.

Fishing in Oregon is great. I have caught such a wide variety in Oregon that it is amazing. From the standard Rainbow Trout, to Kokanee, Coho Salmon, Crappie, Small Mouth Bass, and Dolly Vardens.

If you plan on fishing in Oregon please purchase a fishing permit. I know that you might think that you can get away with fishing a day or two without one, but remember that it is these permits that help pay for the fish hatcheries that supply the fish that YOU catch.

In the the Eugene area some of the best places to fish are in the Junction City and Creswell Ponds, up the McKenzie river at Carmen Reservoir (often stocked), beneath the Dexter Dam (Steelhead fishing), and from Florence deep sea fishing is popular.

Equipment: A fishing pole, line, bait, lures, a fishing license, weights, etc. General fishing stuff.
