    Main City Park

by glabah Written Nov 3, 2009

Located just south of old downtown Gresham, this city park features covered picnic areas and a number of paved trails through the park. There are playground structures of various types, and a memorial in the northeast corner of the park.

The center part of the park is a very small island formed by Johnson Creek that is in a somewhat wild state. It is possible to access the park from a single bridge from the west side of the park.

The park does suffer from a bit of noise from Powell Blvd., but it is possible to escape this on most days by heading further into the park.

This park is by no means an interesting park, beyond it being a reasonably nice neighborhood park. It is, however, one of the few things to do in Gresham that is worth mentioning.

    Trufflehunter: Huge Sandwiches

by sheeplike Updated Sep 7, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

An old house converted into a quaint restaurant. Good home cooking is the type of food you will find on the menu. Sandwiches, salads and soups are general fare for lunch. Dinner offers pot roast, chicken dishes and lunch items. The dessert tray is fun to look at. Desserts like grandma made. Mainly pies.

Favorite Dish: The Lady Ida is my all time favorite. It is an toasted open-faced sandwich with ham, pineapple, swiss cheese and cream cheese. It may sound weird but the flavors meld and complement one another.

    India Oven: Delicious Indian Food

by Mauzl Updated Sep 20, 2003

Here you find the most delicious Indian Dishes you can think of - and you can order them in 3 different styles of "hot-ness" ;o)
And the service is 1A-Rate - the waiters/waitresses are very polite & always on the lookout if they can help you or refill your cup with their tasty caj :o)

Favorite Dish: I personally LOVE spicy foods & here I tried the Prawn & Mushroom dish with VERY hot sauce - it was scrumptious!

My friends who were with me had a lovely Chicken Tikka Masala & a spicy Lamb dish -for everybody's taste-buds there is one dish to devour ;o)

AND: Not to forget: the absolutly tasty caj they serve! It's the traditional Indian tea, boiled in milk & an exciting arrangement of spices - it tastes wonderful! And your cup will be filled up during your whole meal - for free :o)

On duty with the Police :o)

by Mauzl Written Mar 26, 2005

For someone living in Northern Ireland it came as a big surprise when I was offered to do a ride-along with the local Police to see their line of work!
In fact, I ended up going on three 8 hour shifts with the Police officers and I enjoyed every minute of it!
I've been intrigued by their work since I've been very little & would never have dreamed of being able to just 'tag along'.
Apparently every citizen of Gresham has the opportunity if he/she wishes to apply for a ride along with the local Police to give everyone a chance to get to know the local peace keepers & their work. If the schedule & workload allowes it, they are in for the ride of their lifes :o)))
I asked permission from the police officer I went with most of the time, to put a breakdown of those first 8 hours with them in writing - you can read about it in the travelogue.

    Fishing on the Columbia River

by Mauzl Updated Sep 22, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: My friend David & his brother-in-law Paul are very passionate fishing partners :o) and they took me on a trip with them on the Columbia River just outside Gresham. It was amazing!
And the fish are HUGE - at least for my understanding, the salmon they caught are at least a meter long & heavy as stones :o)))

But I also loved the view we had from there - sitting in a boat in the middle of the wide river & looking straight @ Mt. Hood!
