Favorite thing:
I visite Lincoln, Oregon when my mother lived there. I love the beaches, but was pregnant and didn't do too much. We did go to Portland and go to the Farmers Market by the subway. In Lincoln there was a kite show and some craft shows also. It was green and real beautiful and would like to go back and visit again.

A nice getaway 2 hours from home

We drove from Tri-Cities Washington, but if you have the money you could fly. There are a couple of airports in the area. (I will list some links shortly)
Home of the World's Shortest River
Here it is, the mouth of the "D" River near a state park in Lincoln City. The rest of the state park at the lake this river starts at is just a few hundred yards away. (I didn't go there.)
Three nights at the Sandcastle Motel. Ate at the Pier 101 (Great food, pricey. Sea Hag was good and comfortable. Pizza place in Newport was excellent for lunch.
