Its the beach!!!Lots of fresh seafood.
Not many I can think of :)
A welcome retreat for all ages
When you are in Lincoln City it's easy enough to enjoy a beautiful sunset. In the summer the sun sets around 9.00pm, so it's not too late in the evening to go out there and enjoy a sunset. When we left our place (near Vancouver, Canada) it was cloudy but dry, when nearing Seattle it started to rain and around the Portland area it was pretty wet...more
During our other travels along the Oregon Coast we never quite got big waves like we had in Lincoln City! I am not sure if this is typical for Lincoln City, but it sure seemed like it. The waves are quite big here and so beautiful, especially on a sunny day. They look greenish and when the high tide is coming back in they can be fairly big. I...more
When you have beautiful and sunny weather in Lincoln City with comfortable temperatures then the beach is a great place to have fun. On several days during our weeks stay we spent time on the beach as we have a little girl that was just over 2 years old when we were there the last time. We took some beach toys, beach chairs and a blanket and set up...more
When visiting the beautiful Oregon Coast you will most likely see some tide pools during your travels. Tide pools are rocky pools located by the oceans that are filled with seawater. Many of these pools exist as separate entities only at low tide. When the tide retreats, seawater trapped in depressions in the rocks forms tide pools. These shallow...more
Our condo was located on the other side of the D River and D River State Park which was really great as most people were visiting the D River State Park. We loved it as the beach was quite calm with very few people around, even on warm sunny days in the summer. The views from the beach in Lincoln City are amazing as it is a really big sandy beach.more

We stopped at McMenamins in Lincoln City on the way to Seal Rock for our rental house... had 2 beers, good chowder and a salmon sandwich and a tuna melt, both of which were fresh and delicious---all for $32.00in a strip mall so look out for it.....Also known as Light House Brew Pub clam chowdermore
I ordered the large sampler and loved it. A lot of food. Fish, salmon, shrimp, scalops, crab, oysters, and oh, the clams were awsome! Great bread & chowder.Should have known better than to order a strawberry margarita in Oregon. They just mixed in plain strawberries so it tasted like alcohol and strawberries. We added a ton of sugar and it tasted...more
The restaurant is not big but the most famous in town. The interior is done in city style with art prints on walls. Saturday night was booked already by 12 afternoon. So I had to agree to have lunch there next day. Salads were very good, as well as wine I chose. Sandwiches and pasta with a (in-house) smoked salmon was a very interesting dish.more
Had a blast everyone was friendly. People who go there put dollar bills on the wall so you could see if you know anyone. And on Friday and Saturday they have a DJ. Nice place. And the restaurant has a kids play area too.

Lincoln City does have limited public transit services.
From the north, it is connected 4 times per day by a bus that is operated by the Tillamook Transit district. This connects Lincoln City to all communities to the north.
From the south, Lincoln County Transit operates a bus several times a day that reaches Lincoln City from Newport, and goes north to Otis and Rose Lodge.
The Chinook Winds casino has bus service to it from a number of different locations in western Oregon. However, these buses are essentially only available to groups that stay in the casino a minimum of 4 hours.
Lincoln City has a nice outlet mall called Tanger Outlet which we visited quite a few times. They have many clothing stores for men, woman, children. There are several shoe stores, handbag stores, leather store, stores with kitchen needs and so much more. You can easily spent a few hours here to get the deals you want. There are public washrooms,...more
These are outlet stores. You can find a ton of good buys if you look carefully enough. Old Navy has a great store in here and so does Mikasa. We always have to take a swing into Harry and Davids. This little shop is part of a series of storefronts known as Nelscott Strip. It has been in this location for around 30 years. Not only do they feature over 25,000 diffrent ornaments from around the world but they also carry cards, giftwrap, nutcrackers, and music boxes. If the quaint exterior doesnt make you want to go inside and look around...more
There are always driftwood piles that wash ashore during high tide. Yes sometimes they are neat to look at or collect. You just have to remember to not turn your back on the ocean unless you know the tide by heart. Every year there are people who get injured or killed because the tide came in and rolled that driftwood right on top of them. Be sure to watch your kids.
Went to chinook winds hotel and casino for a weekend. Something was wrong with our room, as there was an overwhelming smell of Clorox when we arrived. We left the windows open and the ocean breeze cleared out the smell but left the room cold. The next night we stayed we closed the windows. We had to leave very early in the am as I had a very...more
An Indian Casino with a view that goes on and on forever! I laughed inwardly while eating in the Rogue River restaurant upstairs, seated next to a table with sweeping views of the beach and surf. I asked our server if the mouth of the Rogue River was nearby, and she said... "No, that's the Pacific Ocean out there." She assumed I was a dumb tourist...more

I know it is the beach but its not in Florida.
Be sure to bring a jacket no matter when you come. Sweatshirt and a change of shoes is a good idea also. I even bring my umbrella and a rain coat.
Miscellaneous: Be sure to bring a good flashlight and extra batteries if you want to look for glass floats. The best time to look is pre dawn.
We visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium during our stay this summer at Lincoln City. The aquarium is located in Newport which is about 30-40 minutes driving from Lincoln City. There is lots too see with very interesting displays as well as interactive displays that are educational. There are several areas indoor with fish tanks full of different kinds...more
The beach at Lincoln City is popular, so there are many opportunities for the photgrapher to make images of people having a great time. Helps to provide scale to the ocean surf and beach. Caution: wind can drive spray, so be sure to use that lens cover and maybe a plastic baggie over the camera when not in use.more
I felt sorry for the hundreds of blue jellyfish-like creatures on the beach. I wonder if they are baby man-of-war?
Equipment: A raincoat on a drizzly day... sunblock on a nice one.

I visite Lincoln, Oregon when my mother lived there. I love the beaches, but was pregnant and didn't do too much. We did go to Portland and go to the Farmers Market by the subway. In Lincoln there was a kite show and some craft shows also. It was green and real beautiful and would like to go back and visit again. http://www.lcchamber.com/more
