Along with all the many flower fields in Oregon, you can't help but notice the fields and more fields of grass grown for it's seed. Oregon is a main producer of grass seed. It's also a main producer of your real Christmas trees. There are Christmas tree farms all over the valley. Since they are neatly trimmed regularly, the site of all these perfectly shaped trees growing everywhere is quite beautiful.
Along the riverfront park in Salem is this new attraction--The Carousel. I've not been there, but my sister took her granddaughter there and they had a great time. The park is along the Willamette river.
Continue down from Sahalie Falls and take the scenic loop up to the lava beds and Dee Wright Observatory. I was astounded the first time we ended up there and saw all the lava! The observatory is even made up of the lava.
When you're up at Clear Lake, drive down a mile and see Sahalie Falls on the McKensie River. Be sure and walk down the path a ways. The river there is very wild! If you walk far enough, you'll come to the top of another waterfall.
Fishing in Oregon is great, although my Dad still insists bottom fishing is the best. Here he is with one of his catfish catches from a little slough just south of Salem, Minton Brown.
On top of Dee Wright Observatory is a dial with arrows on it pointing to and naming the many peaks in the mountain range.
