    Twin Falls

Twin Falls out of all the falls in the park is probably one of the least visited. Its location between North Fork Falls and Lower North falls makes it fairly unextraordinary considering its neighbors. The trail system also is oriented in a way which makes it easy to skip by this one.
Twin falls is also fairly difficult to get a good view of. The trailside viewpoints are not so great but it does have a fairly good area near the crest of the falls that the trail passes by.
These falls are a moderate 31 feet (9 meters) which in this park puts it pretty low on the wow factor. It is however pretty interesting in shape. When the water level is high it becomes divided into 2 or even three separate channels. In the summer It gets much more delicate and when I visited I was able to rock hop my way across the top of the falls to get the shots I have included.

    North Falls

by GuthrieColin Written Jul 27, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

North Falls at 136 feet (41 meters) is the tallest waterfall along the North Fork of Silver Creek. The Falls are not as busy as South Falls but have their own appeal.
The undercut cavern behind the falls is much deeper than many in the park and even has several benches to sit and enjoy the view. This cavern, like the others in the park, was created where hard volcanic layers are stacked on top of weaker layers of rock which erode at faster rates.
Good views of the falls are not as easy as some of the others in the park but there is a viewpoint along the highway which allows long distance but clear views.

    Upper North Falls

by GuthrieColin Written Jul 27, 2008

Upper North Falls is probably my favorite of all the falls in Silver Falls State park. That is saying a lot since there are many taller and more well known in the park. At 65 feet (20 meters) this waterfall is also not exceptionally tall, what makes this waterfall so appealing is its location. In the park you will be surrounded by many other visitors at all times.
Anywhere near South falls or the lodge is quite bustling most times of the year. North falls and the areas surrounding, however, are less visited. When I visited Upper North I found complete solitude and a beautiful waterfall.
The falls are the first of 6 falls on the North Fork of Silver Creek and feature an interesting stepping fall over an exposed rock face. The lighting is likely best in the afternoon or on an overcast day.

    Outstanding

Silver Creek Falls has a long history for our family. This park is full of trails and not just the ones that go around the falls. don't get me wrong, the Fall trails are spectacular and worth the hikes. when going around the fall trail loops remember to bring drinking water and food and something to sit on. It is always acceptable to sit down on the ground and enjoy nature while you catch your breath or take your shoes off.
even if you are not camping at the park try walking the trails that go around the different lodges & camp areas. You will find more level ground trails with just as beautiful scenery.

We had one of our daughter's wedding at the park and it could not have been better. Serene, green and cool on July 3.

Two notes of caution. In the fall the leaves cover the trails and tend to get wet and slippery. Walk carefully.
also when parking at the lower falls (I think it is winter falls) DO NOT let anyone see you store stuff in our trunk, it is a known area for theft. I hate saying that.

    UPPER NORTH FALLS

by mtncorg Updated Apr 20, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A short walk from the North Falls parking lot along OR 214 will take you upstream along the North Fork of Silver Creek to the Upper Falls. The falls is 66 feet high and mist is everywhere in the air. The trail ends in some stone stairs that go down to the basin at the bottom of the falls. Walk carefully along the wet mossy rocks. On the way in you will pass a couple of other small creeks that are trying their best to emulate the larger creek, tumbling over basaltic ledges. The trail is flat and is only about 0.3 miles in.
