Oregon Tourist Traps

  • Vortex, schmortex

The Oregon Vortex, featured on various national TV shows, was a waste of time and money, IMHO. Animals avoid the area, Indians dubbed it Forbidden Ground, trees lean toward magnetic north, people shrink and grow, balls roll uphill, brooms stand on end, mice tap-dance. Yada yada. Well, they don't claim the thing about the mice. But it's all an...

  • Tillamook Cheese Factory

Well if you want to be with loads of tourists that come in huge motor homes and that do the touristy things, go right ahead. • The Sea Lion Caves in the...

The Sea Lion Caves in the central Oregon coast is a big disappointment. A family of 5 will pay over $50.00 to go down an elevator and look at something they can see for free in any cove around the coast...sea lions. They just happen to have an elevator and a large open cave-like cove where sea lions will also hang out.
