Erin's Hallmark Shop: A Pleasant Browse
Although I missed the opportunity to stop by Erin's Hallmark Shop on my recent visit, we've been shopping here for years.
I like a small town shop where people aren't in too much of a hurry to finalize your purchase. Taking time to select a meaningful card or chose appropo stationery (yes, people still use stationery!) can't be rushed.
I like Erin's because of Erin herself and the nicely chosen seasonal gifts and cards you'll find here. It's a cheery shop and one that calls you to visit again and again.
FYI: Hallmark was created by Joyce C. Hall in 1910, a young man from Norfolk, Nebraska. He began his business by selling post cards with his brother's help and in time it evolved into the business it is today.

The Shepherd's Door: Uplifting Place To Stop
The Shepherd's Door has just changed hands after 30 years and is now owned and operated by Bellevue Christian Church (pic #2).
However, this is more than just a retail store. Aside from selling both Catholic and Protestant items, church supplies, music, books for all ages and toys for the kids, it supports local, regional and global missions--a commendable enterprise!
For example, their website highlights a non-profit organization that develops and sustains income-generating projects in poverty-striken areas of the world. One of these projects is a Ugandan coffee farm, which helps individuals rise above their poverty. The store carries Ugandan Gold Coffee from this project.
Hours are Sun.-Mon. closed; Tues.-Fri. 10am-6pm; Sat. 10am-4pm.
