St. James Gate: Great Value Option for Casino Dining

by FatesWarn Written Feb 8, 2015

I chose this restaurant among the selections at the Sand Casino in Bethlehem (which are mostly Emeril restaurants) because of the appealing comfort food and beer selections on the menu. The food did not disappoint - great food at a decent price for a captive crowd. They also keep a rotating selection of craft beers that they offer for $3.
The service was a little spotty, our server went from being attentive in the beginning to no where to be found when we were ready to leave (and needed to leave for the show we had tickets to attend); so I recommend mentioning your urgency when asking for the check and perhaps be ready with your card when they come back with it (something I usually try to do when I'm in a hurry, so that one's on me).

Favorite Dish: Mac and Cheese with Short Rib. Just the right amount of short rib added to leave you perhaps wanting more, but being better off for not having it (because it will sit with you until morning). They used cavatappi noodles - my top choice for holding the cheesy goodness of mac & cheese.

Looper's Grille & Bar: A tastefull place on the wrong side of the lehigh

by steedappeal Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The only really nice place I saw & tried in Bethlehem. They have an amazing Martini selection; a menu lists over 400 versions. The only bar I've ever seen where a rolodex details the way to make all 400+ versions.

I was very welcomed by the owner, Natalie, who has lived in town for over 8 years. She was very helpful since I had not had time to research any game-plan for my visit. She even drew me a map which made it very easy to see the major sites in a short amount of time.

Within 2 blocks of the Trans Bridge bus station so especially recommended before or after your travels.

Favorite Dish: Martini selection. Did not have the opportunity to try the food.

  • The Other Fish: Sushi> From simple to fancy--Its All Great!

by rockycomfort Updated Mar 25, 2009

A very small, long & narrow (seats maybe 30) BYO restaurant-- it has 1 table for 4; 4 tables for 2, rest is sushi bar seating. Ya go for the fish! Everything is top-shelf, "Jay", the owner-master sushi chef will take good care of you. Try anything on the menu or ask him to surprise you...the lightly cooked sea bass is killer. Even the rice here stands out. Bring a bottle of junmai (cold) sake & enjoy! Call for hours of operation.

Bonte Wafflerie & Cafe: Belgian waffles in Bethlehem

by steedappeal Updated Jul 4, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Yes, contrary to expectations, I found a Belgian-style Waffle joint on the Main Street in downtown, historic Bethlehem. This is some kind of a franchise.

It is interesting that they not only put toppings ON the waffles but also have "mix ins" which are mixed INTO the waffle itself.

A very laid-back vibe, down the street from the 'Bethlehem Hotel' and near to the tourist info center.

    Favorite Dish: Waffles, of course.

    Bethlehem Brew Works: Bethlehem BrewWorks

by marca Written Nov 26, 2007

This popular eatery offers a fairly large menu with a good selection of their home brewed beer made on the premisses. You may encounter a wait during busy lunch or dinner hours.

Favorite Dish: I have been here a few times and have selected my dinner from the 'specials' menu each time. This is one of the few brewpubs that my wife enjoys going to.
