    Deb's Diner - Strattanville

    by Ewingjr98 Written Sep 8, 2012

Deb's Diner is just a small place for locals to grab lunch or perhaps ice cream in the summer. The meals are simple, but big and hearty and very inexpensive. They their open faced roast beef sandwich, spaghetti or chicken and biscuits. Fish is always a staple on Friday, as it is all over Clarion County. These are the basic meals I grew up on, then had for 18 years at the local school!

Just about everything n the menu is under $5.

    Bob's Sub - Main Street

Bob's Sub is a great small-town sub shop with excellent service and great food. The sandwiches are fresh, tasty, and affordable.

This little shop has been in this prime location across from the Clarion Courthouse forever. I think I first ate here 20 years ago, and even then it was old.

Large sub are just $5 and they come with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, mayo, and Italian dressing.

    Fox's Pizza Den - Clarion

Fox's Pizza has a store in Clarion, and they used to have a location in Tylersburg. As kids we often had pizza from here because it was closer and cheaper than Pizza Hut.

Their menu includes pizzas, sandwiches, wedgies, and appetizers.

Fox's pizza was began in 1971 by Jim Fox, who is from the Pittsburgh area. Today the restaurant is headquartered in Murrysville, PA. They have some 300 locations in 30 states, but they are all small, locally owned franchises.

In 2009, Fox's Pizzas ranked as the 12th largest US pizza franchise in terms of sales.

Pizza Pub - Main Street Clarion

    Pizza Pub
    4 more images

The Pizza Pub on Main Street has long been one of my favorite restaurants in town. Great pizza and sandwiches along with cheap draft beer. Can't be beat. The only problem with the Pizza Pub is that it gets so busy you might have to wait a bit for a table, especially if you have a large group. We arrived one busy evening around 6pm with a group of eight, and we ended up waiting 45 minutes for a table.

The menu has salads, strombolis, sandwiches, hoagies, wedgies, fried appetizers, and of course a lots of pizzas. The most expensive pizzas are all under $15 for a large, and the prices only get cheaper from there. Their draft beers come in four sizes including the mug ($1.45), schooner ($1.75), fishbowl ($3.25), and pitcher ($5.75). They also offer salads, appetizers, sandwiches, hoagies, and wedgies. All sandwiches, hoagies and wedgies are less than $5 each... at these prices you can't go wrong.

For the pizza you can choose from their "traditional" crust and their "homestyle" crust. Be warned, the thick homestyle crust is pre-made and frozen, while the thinner home style crust is actually hand-made from fresh dough. The homestyle pizza is excellent, with crispy crust, fresh toppings, and tasty sauces.

I also like their "pizzaboli" a stromboli with pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers, sauce and cheese for just $5. They also have variations on this stromboli such as the "meatballboli," the "veggieboli," the "Hawaiianboli," and the "Italianboli." All are around $5.

Pizza Pub delivers within a 2.5 mile radius of the restaurant.

    Korner Restaurant - Sligo

    by Ewingjr98 Updated Jul 10, 2008

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Korner Restaurant, formerly Karen's Korner Restaurant, is a great little stopping point in the small town of Sligo 11 miles south of Clarion via Route 68. As the name implies, it sits on the busiest corner in town, where Route 68 meets Route 58.

This is a place we occasionally go for breakfast when we hunt in the old coal mines between Sligo and Callensburg. Their breakfasts are amazing... as in both good and cheap. I am always amazed by the breakfast specials... I think last time, we had a meal with two eggs, two pieces of bacon or sausage, and two pieces of toast plus coffee for maybe $2. You can feed the whole family for a Hamilton or less; unless you are Amish and you might need a Jackson or two.

The restaurant itself is clean, but nothing special. Really just a rusty spoon, hole in the wall where truckers, hunters, and locals stop for sustenance. It features cheap, warehouse tables and chairs, but hey you came here for the food, right?

    RRR Roadhouse

    by Ewingjr98 Written Jul 1, 2008

The RRR Roadhouse is (as far as I know) a two-restaurant chain with locations at the Cranberry Mall in Seneca and in the Clarion Mall. I have visited both restaurants, and enjoyed pretty good meals at fair prices. These restaurants are local versions of the much larger national chains like Outback, Lonestar, and Longhorn, with lots of neon, free peanuts with shells on the floor, and all the Texas memorabilia you can handle. The RRR roadhouse is the Clarion area's first steakhouse since Shippenville's Bonanza closed back in the 1990s.

The RRR Roadhouse is the only restaurant in the Clarion Mall, and it occupies the site of a former, and much smaller pizza restaurant. This restaurant is very large for the Clarion area, and tend to be pretty popular. Their lunch and dinner menus include a variety of bar food, sandwiches, soups and salads, and a selection of steaks. They are very kid-friendly with a kids menu, patient wait staff, and free balloons for the wee ones. Prices are reasonable, especially when compared to the national chains.

    Vinny's Pizza

Though the Pizza Pub is a more comfortable restaurant, Vinny's has the best pizza in town. They feature hand-tossed New York style pizza and strmbolis packed with fresh toppings. During my last visit, I had their special stromboli with a tasty mix of steak, cheese, ham, peppers, mushrooms, and onions. A small is about 8 inches long and is plenty of food for a good meal... the cost was around $7.

Vinny's also has a huge variety of pasta dishes, subs, salads, and appetizers. They also have a huge variety of beers in both singles and 6-packs to go.

    Captain Loomis Inn

The Captain Loomis Inn is considered by many to be Clarion's most upscale and high-quality restaurant. I have been here numerous times for their outstanding prime rib and their king crab legs.

The Captain Loomis is also one of Clarion's best nightlife spots, as well as a 6-pack shop, and a small hotel, all conveniently located in the center of Clarion's Main Street.
