Don't miss Founders Day in Mid-August. I think it's generally the 2nd Saturday of the month. There are BBQ's set up, items for sale along the Main Street , the Keg races and most importantly, the Outhouse Race! I have never seen anything remotely like this in my life! Competitive teams of 4 build their own unique outhouses and bring them to race down the main street of the town. Contestants race 2 at a time (there isn't room for any more than that!) in heats. The team with the fastest time wins. You won't want to miss it!!!
I've been to the Tally Ho for breakfast once or twice... Food was good and so were the prices. It has a nice enough atmosphere, very country The trading post also includes a large store full of camping needs and clothing. It's a just a bit further north of town, located on German Road. .more
Pam's Restaurant is where we go for breakfast every time we are in the area. The decor leaves something to be desired, I am not a fan of having photographs of hunters and their "kills" staring at me while I eat my eggs. But the prices and the meal can't be beat! For $5 you can get coffee, juice, pancakes and eggs AND a side of bacon or sausage! And...more
It's more the ambiance than the items for sale in this cute little store. They have transformed and old Railroad car into a quaint gift shop. They mostly carry souvenier items, alot of them train orientated (go figure) but it's a nice stop, if for nothing else to clamber up the staris into the trainmore
In the middle of downtown Dushore, bright red and attention grabbing, stands the Jolly Trolley. If you find yourself wanting a badminton set(we did) or table linens or a magnet with a Blueberry Cobbler recipe, or any of variety of other things you didn't know you needed, this is the place for you. The Jolly Trolley is not only a cutesy little store...more
Norma's Notions is along a little street parallel to German St. but a block closer to the Monument, called Railroad Street. It's a pretty scenic little walk which on Founder's day will also lead you to a little flea market. The store is on the left hand side(facing away from town)This is where I won my fish Tomato. As my friend and I walked up this...more
If you choose to purchase your beer from the bar in town (perhaps the Dushore Beverage iis closed?) You must remember to bring enough people to carry all of the 6 packs you wish to buy. They will not let you carry more than 2 per person. AND THAT'S THE LAW! (is it really ? anyone who knows please email me!) Anyway that is what they say.
Favorite thing: Hands down the best day to visit Dushore is on Founder's Day. So many events and excitement like your never seen. There are sidewalk sales, townwide Bar-B-Ques, Keg Races and the most anticipated event of the day, the Outhouse Races. See my Must See Tip for details.
