Olde Country House: Gifts, Collectibles and Antiques
One of my favorite stops when traveling Rt. 19 beyond Harmony is the Olde Country House. It's exactly that...an old house and barn, filled with wonderful things for your home (pic #2). Mom and I recently visited in November on the way to our "girls' getaway weekend".
If your decor is country style, there's plenty to look at here! The neatly arranged barn holds rustic antiques and odd pieces (benches, chairs, dressers), while the house offers reproduction pottery, braided rugs, lots of unique decorative pillows, folkart dolls, candles, plenty other things, such as faux grapevine/berry garlands, scented soaps, etc. Whatever accents needed to present your home in a country-style decor.
When we visited, the shop was brimming with Christmas cheer--I just love this shop! One room has always been displayed as a vintage kitchen, complete with old stove (pictured).

Bottle Brush Gallery: Art on the Square
We discovered Bottle Brush Gallery when we were hunting an antique shop we used to frequent. It had closed and the art gallery had assumed their space.
The gallery exhibits local artists from Western Pennsylvania. Oil paintings, ceramics, art glass, photography, sculptures, textiles and jewelry are beautifully displayed in a spacious light filled room.
After you enjoy Harmony's historic sites, drop in for a dose of art appreciation--I think you'll like it!
Hours are Wed.-Fri.11am-7pm; Sat. 10am-5pm; Sun. 12n-5pm and closed Mon. and Tues.

Otto and Gerts: Old Fashioned Appeal
Otto and Gert's has real old fashioned appeal. Large glass jars filled with colorful candies, a vintage soda fountain and Christmas trees laden with sparkly ornaments add a warm touch to the shop. It was a pleasure to drop by!
Each Christmas I buy our grandkids a special ornament for their tree. I found a graceful ballerina and a Santa in a hot air balloon for two of the kids. Candles, pine and berry garlands and other decor for holiday arrangements were tucked here and there throughout the shop.
There is also a vibrantly painted room for themed parties. A basic package begins at $12.95 which includes a 1 1/2 hour rental, decorations, crown for the birthday boy/girl; pizza or hotdog; pretzels or chips; drinks; ice cream and karaoke, American Idol dance mats, a hula hoop challenge and two contest prizes.
The soda fountain also serves these items: chicken salad croissant ($5.95), Angus burger ($5.95) and turkey wraps ($5.95) and pizza.
