Booths and counter stools. American foods (burgers, fries, chicken strips, hot dogs, onion rings) for dinner in casual, dress-as-you-are atmosphere. There are some limited choices in steak and seafood but we usually stick with the tried and true American dinner plates for us and the kids.
The prices are less than $10 per person; the service is okay (mostly younger waitresses); the food is served quickly and to your order.
The restaurant is right on the main highway that runs past Irwin so it is easy to find.
If it has ice cream in it, you can get it at Baskin and Robbins. The number of flavors has to be in the hundreds. And you can mix-and-match flavors or add toppings or different presentations (dish, cone, sundae) to make even more combinations of flavor.
In recent years they have added cakes and shakes, sorbets and sherberts, yougurts and lo-cals, but their big sellers are the large selection of flavors in traditional ice cream hardpack.
I even saw one of their advertisments for puddings and candies.
On our visits to see relatives, we usually stop here for a treat because it is right on the main highway (US30) and because the ice cream is very good.

Irwin is a nice quiet layed-back community of families and farms. It has crime statistics that put it into the "very low risk" category. We have camped out in the area and have never had any problems.
Use normal tourist precautions when you visit Irwin and you will enjoy yourself, safely.
Take a in a Pittsburgh pirates / Concert Promo.. Last year they had Styx,Povertyneck Hillbillies, Clarks and Big and Rich..
Here is some last years July 4th Pirate Game Big and Rich Promotion..
This is a relatively decent course for the cheap price of $25 including cart for a round of 18 holes.
Fairways are wide open with good view from tee to green. Trees are only incidental on this course and water hazards come into play only peripherally on two holes. There are sandtraps to be avoided at most of the greens and the greens are very undulating. Pin placements are sometimes on significant slopes on the greens.
The course has been in existence for over 40 years and is still kept up to fairly good standards. The fairways can sometimes be a bit hard-packed in the summer heat and play fast. The roughs are intentionally left long as a hazard.
All in all it is a good course for beginner to good players. Golfers who shoot in low eighties or below will not find much challenge here though.
here is access to a realtime weather camera on top of the Norwin Middle School. (camera normally points northeast to keep it out of the direct sun)
