The Selings-Grove Brewery: It's not really Lewisburg

I'm not going to build a separate page for every little town along the Susquehanna. That would be tedious and a waste of everyone's time. This place is about 20 minutes from Lewisburg, and in every locals' opinion, it's all the same place.
This brewery is one of the highlights of the area, though and forgive me for typos, but I've been drinking A LOT. They make their own beer and I give any place credit for attempting to do that. I thought they made their own wine, but apparently it's made by a "real" winery right down the road. The setting is nice, the live music is nice, the food is good in that organic way. The only problem I have with this place is that you can't smoke inside, but even that doesn't bother me too much b/c the porch is well lit and pretty.

    whatever.

Buffalo Bills Tex-Mex: It scared me at first

    crappy country song

Seriously, the first time we went here, it was fine. The second time, on karaoke night, I was frightened. Cowboy hats, country music, people wearing stuff they shouldn't, lewd remarks...I just kept drinking and was thankful for the 4 people I had with me. But, bravely, I returned for karaoke once again. And it's good I did--it was a much better experience. I don't know if the nascar rodeo was in town last time and I expected another showdown at the OK Buffalo Bills corral, but the crowd was so much better this time. There was good music, a nice assortment of people, some that could actually sing, too. We sang the Pina Colada song from 1979 (good year!) and I stepped up my drinking to liquor. They have themed nights every night and the restaurant is good, from what I hear. We don't have too many local mexican places to compare it to, so that statement could be irrelevant.

I felt overdressed. My clothes actually fit me and I didn't have a large hat. Try not to be noticed...or you'll have people calling out at you. That's what happened the 1st time anyway.

It's a little different only because it's usually not overrun by college students. Probably because it's a little more expensive, but it's a good alternative. It's a restaurant, first of all...with good Irish dishes, stews and such. But it's also a bar that features about 200 or more microbrews (we tried kelpie seaweed ale, I don't recommend it and it comes in a HUGE bottle...gross. thankfully I made my 2 friends order it and I got oatmeal beer), has couches and comfortable chairs in addition to the bar. Lots of Irish beer on tap, too. There's live music some nights as well. This place was having a little business partner conflict awhile ago and they were talking about closing but to my knowledge, they are staying open for the duration, whatever that may be. At least for the duration of my stay here, is a safe guess.

I feel obligated to update this tip. Tonight was NOT a good experience at this place. Not too bad, good company, good music...but there aren't as many beers as I recall and the ones I tried ordering, he didn't have. So, I had to go back to Dixie Crimson Voodoo. I like it, it's good New Orleans beer, but I prefer trying something new each time I'm there. AND then, he overcharged me, felt really bad, gave me extra cash, but failed to return my check card. We were well on our way to other things when I realized it. Ugh...still we had a good night, despite that.

It's more dressy than the Towne Tavern or Bull Run Inn...I'd say upscale casual.

Okay, so this REALLY should be a restaurant tip, but honestly, this place, by FAR serves the best bloody marys around, and other specialty drinks, so that's why it's going here. It's a typical restaurant--I don't know of a single person who doesn't like this place. We ate here last night and I had the caribbean jerk chicken and spinach salad, jeanette had the crab melt and matt had the beer burger. All were good. But they are more known for their bigger dinners--the chicago steak, the scallops, crabcakes...

And I know them for the bloody marys!!!!! Yesterday, b/c if was so nice out, we had out dinner on the patio at BJ's and from my chair, I couldn't reach the straw b/c the drinks are that big. Ounce wise, I couldn't tell you...it's a very large drink. Spicy and perfect. mmmmmm....

I suppose you could wear anything here, but it's one of the nicer places in Selinsgrove...I wore a skirt here last night, a lot of other girls did as well. But that's just b/c it was nice outside...
    I'd say dress up a little...khakis, skirts...

    The Bull Run Inn

Lewisburg isn't the hotspot for nightlife, let me tell you. But it's pretty convenient when the 2 major bars in town are right across the street from each other. Get sick of one, stumble to the other. Mix things up a little bit:)

Anyway, beer is cheap, cheap, cheap in central PA. A bottle of Yeungling (good PA beer) is $1.30. Mixed drinks are cheap also. You can get a pitcher for $5.00 when it's not a special.

They both get crowded, lately, the Towne Tavern more so than the Bull Run Inn, but they are both decent bars. The only thing I don't care for is when it's packed full of Bucknell students celebrating someone's 21st birthday. But, i know I was obnoxious on my 21st, so I can't complain.

They also serve food at both places.

    Anything flies
