There are a lot of cool little shops to go into and maybe buy something small, but they are overpriced, for the most part. This is because they figure is parents are willing to spend over $30K a year for some ungrateful kids education at Bucknell (that's unfair, but if you go out here, you'll get that feeling), they can pay whatever price for merchandise.
One such shop is the Lewisburg Mercantile. I love this place, but I can't say I have ever purchased anything from here. It's like a Pier 1 or Crate and Barrel but more expensive. Cool furniture, kitchen and bedroom things, paintings, lights, stationery, etc.
Marc Williams jewelers is really a good place. SOME of the jewelry is expensive, but he makes whatever you want, so it's mostly all original. And during the Lewisburg Arts Festival in April, he'll have cool rings and stuff for a good price.
The Purple Platypus is a kids store. This is the only place around to find Mad Libs still:) I like it for that reason. They have great learning toys, fun stuff to play with all around. Again, very pricey.
there's also a nice book store (Booksellers, i believe is the name), an art supply place, some clothing botiques the Celtic Exchange, etc...All on Market Street in downtown Lewisburg.

Hmmm...maybe some local art--there's a lot of good stuff like that. And definitely some amish stuff but that's found at other places.

more than anywhere else in the area

    farm stands/markets: Excellent Produce

What I missed most when I lived in Alaska was fresh produce. The food was shipped in on a barge and you had to know what days to grab it, otherwise it was no good. Sometimes, like once a month, a man would come up from the lower 48 and sell fruits and vegetables off his truck. It was always SO expensive and never wonderful.

Roadside stands are everywhere in PA, especially in central PA...Amish/Mennonite houses will sell things from their yards. that's how we frequently get stuff. Just a drop your money in the cup and grab what you want, honor system sort of shopping. The markets are great too...especially if you go toward the end of the day when they start just giving things away.

Today, at the market I got red and green peppers, cabbage, celery, strawberries, asparagus (though, note on the sign in the picture is says she's selling asparagras, not asparagus), red potatoes and cucumbers. All of this ended up at a grand total of $5.00

Here in Pennsylvania, especially in central PA, you're guaranteed excellent produce in the early to mid spring. Usually we get a good amount of rain, so these things flourish and the prices drop. Later in the warmer seasons, it's anyones guess. Sometimes the weather is very hot and dry and the droughts cause the quality to drop and the prices to skyrocket.
Still, I am amazed at the difference in quality and prices of the locally grown items compared to what the grocery stores sell.
