Have a blast in the Half Pipe

Drop into the pipe, blast a rodio air or just make controlled turns. Skiers and snowboarders welcome.

Tickets

Tickets, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  Ahh, this is nice; an indoor ticket booth. Just to the left as you enter the lobby. No waiting in the cold. (like at some ski areas!)

Terrain Park

Terrain Park, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  It must be a good terrain park, it was full of hot shots. The quad chairlift rides right by it, so it is fun to watch the action. The wall got a lot of action, except of course, for the time I had my camera ready for a picture...Music was missing though. Usually the terrain...

Watch for falling snow!

Watch for falling snow!, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  Be careful about skiing directly under the chairlift. Lots of people (mostly teenagers!), bang their skis together sending down showers of snow upon your head. Don't they realize they are nicking up their edges?! (Must be renters.)Also, if you fall, some people (mostly...

Getting some sun

Getting some sun, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  Bring your sunblock. By afternoon, Bear Creek gets the sun on its slopes. On a cold day, it's a welcomed friend! Sunglasses or goggles cut down the glare.

Don't worry

Don't worry, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  There are still plenty of cranky, wooden, two seaters. I like this lift over on the far right of the slopes. It skims above the ground between pine trees.

Okay, enough of the lodge! Let's get outside!

Okay, enough of the lodge! Let's get outside!, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  Now a part of the 21st Century, Bear Creek has a quad chair lift. But usually only one or two people go up per chair. I've said it before, and I'll say it again-go early! Look at that wide open, empty slope! ah, bliss

Watching the skiers and boarders

Watching the skiers and boarders, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  While you're chowing down, you can watch the skiers and boarders out on the slopes. Or you can park non-skiers who came up with you in here for the day. They can eat and watch--you'd be surprised how many people actually do this!

The Cafeteria

The Cafeteria, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  The cafeteria is upstairs. Very nice. Cozy wooden furniture, two huge, double-sided stone fireplaces. Usual choices of food: pizza, burgers, chicken fingers, soups, a set hot meal of the day, salads, sandwiches. Lots to choose from. If you want table service the restaurant...

Going Up

Going Up, Macungie

Rhondaj Says:  If you hate clomping up and down stairs with awkward ski boots on-relief. Right outside the locker room, at the rear of the lobby is an elevator to whisk you upstairs to the dining area. There is also an ATM machine tucked in the corner so you can take out more money for...

Big Air at Bear

Big Air at Bear, Macungie

GNSK8 Says:  Bear Creek isn't afraid to build a terrain park !Not only were the hits big and fun, they were shaped well and ripable!Watch your speed on this one. I landed on the flats once. Be prepared for big swings in temperature between morning, afternoon and evening. I like to wear...

Australian for

Favorite thing: This mountain is 45 minutes less drive than the Pokonos for me. I also noticed that it faces away from the cold Northwest winds which made the difference on the freezing cold day that I went.

Here is a link to check the weather and conditions:

Fondest memory: The mountain is friendly ! From the people to the terrain. Don't get me wrong, there are some challenging trails and some massive jumps along with a half pipe and all kinds of slide rails to keep the experts happy. Try this place out !
