Independence Hall, Philadelphia

Favorite thing: Here I am hanging out with my nephew in Independence National Historic Park in Center City. Besides Independence Hall and all of the historical sights here, it's also a great place to find some peace and a nice spot of grass to relax on.

Favorite thing: ASSEMBLY ROOM (Independence Hall): Upon touring the Independence Hall, you'll be guided to this legendary room where George Washington was appointed commander in chief of the Continental Army in 1775 and the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776.

Other important events which took place in this room are:
Design of the American flag in 1777.
Articles of Confederation adopted in 1781.
U. S. Constitution drafted in 1787.

Favorite thing: Queue for the entry to the INDEPENDENCE HALL which is right across from LIBERTY BELL. It was here that the Americans declared independence in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence & in 1787, invented a system of self government under the U.S. Constitution. The tour by a park ranger took about 30 minutes & will introduce you to the history about how United States was born & took shape. A World Heritage Site, the State House (now INDEPENDENCE HALL) was built between 1732 & 1756 as the Pennsylvania capitol. Flanking it on the left are the OLD CITY HALL (home of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1791 to 1800) & on the right the CONGRESS HALL (formerly the County Courthouse & the meeting place of the U.S. Congress from 1790 to 1800).

INDEPENDENCE HALL was designated as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1979 to recognize the events which has resulted in the democratic systems of government now emulated by so many countries in the world.

Favorite thing: Visit the CONGRESS HALL: Adjacent to the INDEPENDENCE HALL, this is another important building which once served as Capitol of the United States (1790 - 1800) where senators & representatives wrestled with issues of implementing the U.S. Constitution.

Favorite thing: see the Independence Hall where the independence declaration was signed and the constitution was decided. Open 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Guided tour each 15 mn.

Fondest memory: There is the Washington's Chair on which there is a sun. Washington did not know if it was a sun set or a rising sun. When the constitution was signed he declared it is a Rising Sun. The name is remained.

Favorite thing: Philadelphia's main tourist attractions are Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Carpenters' Hall, and Congress Hall, within Independence National Historical Park. Other points of interest are the Betsy Ross House, Christ Church, the U.S. Mint, and Gloria Dei Church.

Favorite thing: Independence Hall is the building where the Declaration of Independence was adopted and the US Constitution was debated and signed. It´s the birthplace of the nation. Location: Chestnut Street between 5th & 6th Streets. Built: 1732-53. Hours: Daily 9am-5pm. Hours extended to 8pm in July and August and on Spring weekends. Also visit the Liberty Bell - A big bell that rang when the Declaration of Independence was first read in 1776.

Favorite thing: See the Independence Hall, where the Liberty Bell is located.

Fondest memory: Philadelphia has wonderful restaurants, and many beautiful suburbs surrounding the city. It is also a day trip away from many other places, such as New York City, the New Jersey Shore, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.

Favorite thing: Relax & enjoy the greeneries of INDEPENDENCE SQUARE. Here, on July 8, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was first read in public.

Favorite thing: See the History landmarks like Penn's Landing,Liberty Bell,Independence Hall......
