A really nice place to visit. If I'm not mistaken, this zoo was the first one in the United States. Many different animals to see and it just remodeled the Tiger/Lion exibit so it should be even better. Pick a nice and cool day to visit. A nice place to take kids to. There is a petting zoo and many different things specifically for kids. There is also a hot air balloon that you can go up on and see the city. The price is a little expensive (went up in the past couple of years) but it is worth it.

During the summer months, this is a fun place to go for a day visit. It's is America's first zoo, and lends itself some credibility and size. The treehouse is fun for kids, and the polar bear and primate exhibits are big draws. There is also a children's petting zoo. There is also a tram that runs around the heights of the zoo that can be fun to see the outdoor animals from up above and also give your feet a rest.
Visit the Philadelphia Zoo! It is a sprawling property filled with beautiful greenery and of course wonderful animals. The animals are very well cared for, they have lots of space and are the zoo attendants are always walking around to ensure their safety and well being. They seem very relaxed in their environment. Its best to get there early to avoid the crowds. Also the animals tend to be more active earlier. Later in the day, they sometimes go inside their houses and sleep, so you may not get to see them all. Its a perfect way to spend the day, its a very nice zoo, they do a great job there.
We love zoos and aquariums, and had not visited this zoo in over ten years. We were glad we did, they have added so many new things and aren't finished, with a huge Children's Zoo scheduled to open in 2013. Big Cat Falls is amazing; where can you be, literally, a few feet from a bengal tiger? Parking is a bit of a nuisance, and $12 to boot. Admission was $14.00 which is reasonable considering the cost to maintain a place like this. There is a lot of things for children to do, like the Treehouse, there is a stage for shows in the summer, and they can pet, groom and feed goats and sheep in the current Children's Zoo. The orangutans in the Primate Preserve were hilarous to watch, swinging around on their ropes. Peacocks walk around the zoo freely, and the bird aviary was awesome! The food wasn't bad, typical fare that is available at other zoos, who visits a zoo for the food anyway? The whole place was clean and there were many restrooms throughout.
