by cwest03 When was the last time you had a sandwich with coleslaw and french fries on it?
Their world famous cheesesteak sandwich. I'm told that it's the best thing on the menu. I think it helps if you get drunk first. All sandwiches at Primanti Bros come by default with coleslaw, french fries and white bread. If you get it any other way they look at you funny. I won't talk it up because I think it needs to be seen to be believed. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: There's a bunch of them in the Burgh. The restaurant has a fantastic chef and great view of the city from atop Mt.Washington. The side facing the city is glass and tiered. It is near the incline and vista points. (See photo taken from our table) $$$$

Favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh is a hole-in-the-wall called Charlie's. It has great crap (crap meaning food that is utterly delicious but absolutely no good for you). Walls have old concert posters all over. Small, rock or blues always playing.
Barbeque! Every Wednesday night is Barbeque night after 6. Oh yes, and their french fries are awesome, especially with solent green for dipping. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Oakland area of Pittsburgh on Melwood Ave near intersection with Centre Ave.Other Contact: (412)681-8450

Pasta Piatto in Shadyside. Try the pumpkin ravioli or some of the luscious pasta dishes with crab. You can't go wrong! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

This is a list of places to I've eaten at in Pittsburgh: Joe Mamma's-- an Italian restaurant near the universities (Oakland), it's really atmospheric, has good homemade looking food, and is a medium price. Most people I talked to in Pittsburgh would first reccommend this place. I would give 5/5. 2Sesame Inn-- a Chinese place that's rated #1 by numerous publications, but is NOT GOOD. It's just really not any good. 1/5 3Jen's Juice--This smoothie and lunch place is located in Shadyside. It's a trendy ,locally owned place. The service there is really nice and the prices are cheap because it's a breakfast/lunch place.4/5 4(unkown name)Greek bakery in South Side-They have lots of sweet things that you could imagine & some salads, soups, or chese filled rolls. The service is nice & it's also just for breakfast/lunch. 3/5 5Clauddaugh's(irish cuisine)also near South Side--Its medium priced, the appetizers seem kind of too American but the rest of the menu doesn't.I was fairly satisfied with it.It's new, so alot of people go there & if you don't have a reservation you may be asked to wait an hour of more. 5/5 It's also next to the Cheesecake factory(which is rated as a goo place to go to,more pricy & also can have long 2-21/1 hr waits) & about 5-6 blocks from Mayorca (Spanish/Portugese cuisine w/ higher prices) Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Abay is a very unique restaurant, because it is Pittsburgh's only Ethiopian restaurant. The restaurant itself is quite nice, with African pictures on the wall and in the front there are Ethiopian seating areas and decorations. It really sets the mood and prepares guests for a wholly African eating experience. The food itself is quite a fun and interesting experience, especially for those unfamiliar with Ethiopian food and eating customs. I like the platters, so guests order 3 or 4 foods and those foods are then placed on a large circular piece of flat Ethiopian bread (They are placed apart from one another, not altogether!) and served to you on a platter with a separate roll of the bread. To eat it, you simply tear off the bread and use it to grab/scoop the food and eat it! There's no need for eating utensils (although they do have them, if you want them) and everyone eats what they want from the same platter. Each platter is meant to serve two people. (for information on hours, please visit the website I've provided)
Because I always order multiple foods, there is not one single food that I prefer. My favorites are the spicy meats, but I actually liked everything I've had there! The desserts change daily, but the pumpkin sambussa with brown cinnamon ice cream is delicious! Theme: AfricanPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 130 S. Abruzzi's, though located in the Holiday Inn Express, is not your typical hotel restaurant. The ambience is warm, with soft colors and lighting decorating the space.
I have tried nearly every item on the menu, and really cannot pick one as my favorite, though I am partial to the crabcakes. With jumbo lump crabmeat and just the right amount of breading, these cakes are then covered in a delightful bechamel and roasted red pepper that set them apart from other crabcakes I have tried. I also love the Scrod Abruzzi and the linguine with white clam sauce (oil, not cream sauce). Oh, and if I'm in the mood for steak, the steak au poivre (the only "french" item on the menu) is peppery and delicious. The food is very good, with large servings. Lots of different pasta options, but just because express is in the name doesn't mean it's fast food. Besides the regular entrees, there is also the option of choosing the pasta type, sauce, and any other toppings. There is the whole dim lighting atmosphere, and a warm feeling. In the summer there is an outdoor dining option. There is a bar also. I can't quite remember the pricing, and while it is not the cheapest place to eat, it is by no means a very expensive restaurant. For kids, you can also order half a serving (probably smart unless they're big eaters). "My father taught me the things I know that I will teach my sons: honor, respect and tradition." Those are the words painted on the side of Alla Famiglia (albeit in Italian). Alla Famiglia is the purest of Italian restaurants and the only one you should go to if you want a great dining experience in Pittsburgh. Well really, most of it is Sicilian food here. Anyways. This is a very special place. There are only 8 tables and 32 seats in this small gem. Everyone sits on the right (unless you are in the back room) and the chef's work on the left. The menu is serious and sincere. Be prepared to order and eat serious food. And also be prepared to...bring your own wine! It is BYOB here. So bring something to drink, or you will be drinking nothing at all (besides water). Also. Don't be deceived by the neighborhood. The area does not have an appearance of a fine dining area. In fact next door is a beer store. Many times I had passed that restaurant and saw more than 1 or 2 $70,000 or $80,000 cars parked in the lot. So there are plenty of people in the know who go. I heard that there is a new owner and chef now and the menu might not be so Italian, but I am sure that the place is still pretty good and worth checking out.
