Favorite thing: We passed through Williamsport while heading north on US 15 on April 14, 2006. Just south of the town, there is a very panoramic viewpoint. However, the weather that day was rainy and thunderstorms, so the views weren't too broad. A good amount of trees were still in leafless winter. After about 5 days in New York State, we started heading back...
Favorite thing: Five days later, we passed the same viewpoint while heading south. This time the views were truly expansive. The sky was blue, and the trees were budding. If you happen to pass through Williamsport on a clear day, this viewpoint is not to be missed.
Favorite thing: North of Williamsport, you enter the Endless Mountains region. The mountain ridges here are very long, since the chain is actually made of a plateau cut away by streams and rivers. During the last few ice ages, the southernmost extent of continental ice sheets reached the Endless Mountain Region. Some of the highlights in the area are Wellsboro, US 6, and Pine Creek Gorge.
