You can drive a coastal road from Galillee thru Narragansett and Wickford and all the way up to Pawtuxet Village, if you like. down in the beach area there are some wonderful old homes overlooking the ocean... some are more palatial than others. This fairly modest house (for the neighborhood) may have a gated entry left over from grander days. Perhaps a property was split and this house built closer to the gate....or maybe the old house burned and this one replaced it? Gorgeous gates, at any rate.
Watch for this farm stand as you enter (or leave Galillee). along the road you'll see the sign. The farm is owned by the state and there is a lucky family who gets to live in the big old house and tend to the farm. They get to sell the vegetables they grow. They also make delicious preserves and home baked pies! When you stop in, you'll notice a lot of chatting going on. The people who run the stand seem to know many of their customers by their first names. There is also a big building across the way where weddings and large summer parties take place. It's a beautiful backdrop for a wedding.
