Altho it's way too cold for me to be on the water in October...I found that the sailing lessons at the Edgewood Yacht Club are still continuing. The yacht club is a very old victorian style building built on stilts over the water. Many boaters moore their craft here, but other locals enjoy the sailing lessons in the summer especially for the children.
The Pawtuxet River flows into our cove and both places make great spots to put in the kayak. Here we have Dan...a local glass blower who has created his own version of a kayak. He got a great view of the burning of the Gaspee during Gaspee Days last weekend. We do a Kayak Regatta each summer and in fact, this July we will also do an evening illumination with a concert going on in the waterfront park simultaneously. Any boat will do....and you can use a torch, flashlight or historic lantern to light your way. It should be really fun.
VESPAs are so hot !!! Ideal means of transport in a little village like ours. Solves the ongoing parking problem too. My husband scoots out to take a ride whenever he's working in his garden and needs to cool off. I find the Vespa that we have a bit too heavy to get on and off... so I've relinquished the hot little machine to "Hoot". (that's his nickname, which everyone calls him :-) )
